why dont india play with five bowlers there should be 4 seamers and one spinner why we lack of pace intthe bowling hardly our bowlers can bowl up to 140 kmph
I don't agree with Sri in bowlers issue. There are not many Int. teams who plays 5 bowlers.
If there is a guy who can be called a bit n' piece bowler should bowl 2 overs atleast. In that way, that guy will not be `rusty' and can add to his experiance column.
I think Captain should bowl Raina, Yuvraj, Ganguly and Shewag all the matches.
Every single time I read Srinath's article is about how great Dravid is or how great Kumble is! There is no doubt both are great but does he realize thats all he is thinking while writing his columns? He did not even write two decent line about Ganguly's half century and mind you he was coming back after a lengthy break too - although he played in country cricket. Rahul Dravid is a decent man and a good captain but I would like to see how he would justify continuous omission of 5th bowler at the expense of 7th batsman and he keeps giving overs to bowlers like Sehwag when they are hit around the park. Did Ganguly do the same thing I would have read a lot more harsh words in Srinath's column.
As per my observation Indian team should be like this. Which will fullfil all the requirnments. Should play like this manner only.
1. Sachin 2. Ganguly 3. Shehwag(If Sachin gets out first then send Shehwag else Dravid) 4. Dravid 5. Dhoni 6. Kaif 7. Agarkar 8. Harbhajan/Kumbale (Depends on graound conditions) 8. Irfan 9. L. Balaji 11.Zaheer/Ashish (Depends on graound conditions) 12...15.Any one who are left.
Here Agarkar,Irfan can do batting as well & also fifth bowler problem will get solved. Keeping Tendulkar & Gangulay as a opener big advantage as we saw previously. V.V.S. Laxuman not of use for One days why to expriment?
I think Sri is little bit tough on VVS. Laxman is back after break. I think its not completely justified to expect him fire all the cylinders straight away. There is need to give laxman atleast 4 to 5 matches and then evaluate him rather than commenting after one match on a bad one day pitch.
I could not understand that despite loosing match by match why managment ,board and coach have not courage to include fifth bowler instead of seventh batsman when the strategy is not getting sucess since many mathes. Why they are not taking risk to play with an allrounder? Can they give answer or they are not accountable to the people of India?
Srinath has raised pertinent points. But Sri Lanka are toooooo smart.. and this get magnified going by the kind of idiosyncratic captaincy of Rahul Dravid.
I would like to remind Srinath that he himself had Rahul as his bunny in several List A and Challenger matches...! Short pitch delivery and he got out... for a big fat duck!
I truly agree to whatever Sri has observed in his column and one more thing that the Coach and the Captain should strongly tell the team members is the value of \\\"S & F\\\"!
What it means is \\\"Singles and Fielding\\\"! I think in the tournament so far we have not seen enough singles being taken by any of the topline batsmen excluding maybe Kaif or Dravid. Even nobody attempts to take a single and rotate the strike.. Players like Laxman, Ganguly, Sehwag and Yuvraj after having such a vast Internation Experience do not attempt to try to do the basics. On Subcontinent pitches the runs that you earn are the runs which will help you win. Also there was no sincere attempts to save the singles that were taken by SL players within the ring.. baring Suresh Raina and Kaif nobody was making an effort.. Players like Ganguly, Nehra, Laxman should not be kept within the ring and should be made to make more physical effort outisde the ring this will definetly help to boost their sagging vigour and may also improve their running between wickets!
Rahul dravid named captain of India not taking any responsibilites he should more aggressive,and maintain attacking spirit against opposition like Aussies.As a captain i would advice him play with five bowlers playing with four bowlers proved to failure in many occassions.He should understand lots of people are watching matches not for time pass they want that our team should win the matches if teams lost matches in spirit manner it is accepted.In last match there was no spirit and confidence among bowlers and able to out jayawardene and upul chandana they are not one of best batsman in the world.My advice to rahul is plan propery so that we should lose any match further.Best of luck for finals
