ganguly,

dear captain

sachin lost his form when he stepped down from opening slot &so is the case with you.u open the innings;hit some 5-6 fours & end up somewhere near 45/46 average, that is sufficient.u can score 50s easily and concentrate on them, forget of big scores;make some quick 50s like 50 of 20 balls or 30 of 10 balls .it will give momentum to the innings, after that if ur wicket falls then ,dhoni & sachin will fire.

Sourav should carry his captaincy whichever place he fits suitable for him
by Sumanta P Sen on Apr 29, 2005 06:00 PM

Sourav should carry his captaincy whichever place he fits suitable for him. If we see last one day series agnst Pak, we found Ganguly was able to win 50% of the ODI (2 out of 4), whereas Dravid hardly manage to cope up the situation n get back india to a winning team even in a draw situation. But Ganguly has prooved it ealier in World Cup,2004.

So the Captain should not get demoralized by the outsiders. It hampers Team Performance.

Sumanta.

this is nonsense
by Santosh Kumar on Apr 29, 2005 05:41 PM  | Hide replies

This is totaly nonsence to change the batting order of sahwag or sachin because saurav is not in form. The best thing saurav should do is to take rests of 6 month from the international cricket and play some domestic cricket. Once he prove himself at domestic level then only he should get selection in Indain team. Saurav was never a good part time bowler. He is the worse fielder in the Current Indian side and now he is perhaps worse batsman in the team. This is the real difference between in Indian side and Australian side.

According to me if you want to be great team don't depend on perticular player.

................is it? If that's the case, why don't you talk about dropping Sachin............? Did that hurt? Do you think he has done justice for the Indian team, in recent times? If you start dropping people like what you suggested then I'm sure...........if you had been amongst the selectors.........all the Indian players would have been playing domestic cricket & we would have had no team to put forward for the International test matches or the ODIs........

Sourav should consider opening
by Deepak on Apr 29, 2005 10:46 AM

I think Ajit is right in saying that Saurav should try the opening slot once again. He and Sachin share the record for being one of the most successful one day opening pair of all times. With Sachin and Saurav opening and Sehwag at No. 4 to attack the slow/part time bowlers and spinners and ofcourse Rahul as the spine at No. 3, the team could create a formidable batting line up.

If that clicks India could also do away with an extra batsman and strengthen the bowling line up, with Dhoni continuing with his flashy stroke play.

Yes, I am very much be there with our ex-captain Mr.Wadekar. As a captain it may not possible Gangoo
to concentrate in all. I am sure he will come back with more power.
I will him all the best.

I think Mr.Wadekar has missed out on why Ganguly has failed in last few years. It is because bodyline bowling ,and short pitched delivaries.Ganguly has no answer to these type of bowling.Previously Captains of opponents were not knowing about his weakness. Now everyone knows and it is doubtful he can improve on that.

'Sourav should consider opening'

hai Dudes ,

i would like to share my views on gangully being brought back as opener .the positon of a bastsman will not affect him from scoring runs . The position might only reduce his strike rate but not his score. and another thing is if we have watched his game carefully we could sense one thing that if he get out in the same way in all the matches particularly giveing catch to the slip. so if he again going to come back as a opener he would again face this problem. So it is better that he come in the middle order an plays some sensible cricket.

Sourav should open
by aloke bhunia on Apr 29, 2005 09:24 AM

Sourav as we alll know performed excellently when he was opening the inings in one day matches. Sachin also failed mostly when he was not opening. Ravi shastri and his team started shouting that sourav should give the opening position to SACHIN so that most explosive opening combination for India could be built. As a captain Sourav gave up the opening position to Sachin but it never clicked as Indian captain and supporter expected. As a result Sourav most of the time had to bat with tremendous pressure and at that time his form started falling. So it is high time that he and Virenra Sewhbag must open and tennis elbow effected Sachin would play intelligent cricket safely at one down position for some more time without further damaging his elbow.
With this we will get back same old aggressive player as well as captain Sourav.
