A Bad Farewell to a Great Coach
by devkanth on Apr 18, 2005 03:01 PM

Indian team lacks the spirit and consistency as said by John. He is the best thing to happen to teh Team.A person who brought Indian Team to the stature of the second best Test Playing Nation in the World was worth a grand farewell and a draw in the onedayers. The team has no reverence for his service and commitment.

I think India have been punished severly for playing negative cricket. The differnce in terms of winning and losing is this negative attitude. The negative attitude in this series crept in since the Banglore Test Match. Full marks to Pakistan for playing solid positive cricket with a good team work. The Indians depended too much on Sehwag to fire and when failed the rest couldn't cope up(at least the difference in run-rate showed it). The plus thing in the series is that India have found wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni. But he should have chosen after his performance when India Senior, India A and India B were playing just before the start of series. The coach John Wright may have done many good things, but to me in this series he hasn't been able to come up with a game plan. I think thats what the next target of Indian team should be, to find a coach like Greg Chappel, Dean Jones, Geoff Marsh. The training camps before any series must be utmost essential and academic cricket must be practised before playing a series. In the whole the unit(team of 16) must go thru the workshop to sort out the following things 1) running between the wickets (It was pathetic to see that be

John wright: sad farewell
by M.faisal.siddiqui on Apr 18, 2005 01:39 PM

It is really sad to except that johnwright is going to leave the team.but he has done a great job for india either it is improving performance or giving that confidence which is required for the win.It is really unfortunate that team india get failed in giving a winning farewell but it does'nt mean that he has not work with india or there is some error in his coaching.he has work wonderfully with the team throughout his period and he deserves the credit of improving performance in team india.i want to wish for the best in his future.
