Symptomatic of Indians in general.
by Siva on Apr 18, 2005 06:40 AM

Prem,

I have a theory about why the Indian team performs so poorly. We as Indians love stars who perform and still lose instead of the whole team pitching in together and winning. I have seen this in the local team I used to played for last summer in the tennis ball cricket league here in Penn., USA. We had a team which had 2-3 outstanding batsmen, good bowlers and the rest of the team was made of us journeymen. The star players had such an attitude that they wouldnt turn up for practice, or listen to team strategies. They assumed that since they were good, the team would win matches ! Guess what, our opponents who didnt have such good players, but still practiced 3 days a week and followed team strategies used to whip us every week. When we won, we won handsome, but our losses were "handsome" too and we finished at the bottom of the pool. The only consolation was that our "star" batsmen and bowlers had the league record.

Indo-Pak Cricket Series

Hi Prem,

Thanks for bringing exceptional e-commentary, we had no chance of witnessing typical Indian cricketers usual drama and their lack of professionalism, few exceptions though. We witnessed how mental toughness, commitment, self belief and right attitude help for the outcome. Indian cricketers seem to have caught up with glamour part of the game. I feel they are set to fail when they are challenged. Most of them seem to have trapped with their own performance issue. My advise is they should spend time reflecting on their performance. New thinking is warranted to improve their performance on regular basis. My reacting is not based on their wining and losing but the way they lose their games.

What is wrong with the Indian team?
by Sanjoy Banerjee on Apr 18, 2005 06:24 AM

I did not want to write this immediately after the loss yesterday as I did not want to do any 'emotional' analysis of the team we have. Players who were brilliant two weeks back could not have suddenly lost 'it' totally. Batting, inspite of Ganguly may not be the real problem for India - In the matches that India batted first, they scored, 280+, 350+,315 and 249 respectively - none of these scores are shameful. However in both the matches that India chased, they lost six wickets in less than 100 runs. Our bowling has been pathetic to say the least - with a 6 3 off-on field the bowlers have fed Afridi on his leg continuously -Is that the pitch's fault? The captain's fault or the simple inability to do the basics right? I personally feel we might be over reacting here - Perhaps we are still too dependent on outstanding individual performances to win matches for us, we continue to ignore this is a team game....

sachin should come in the middle order/
by john on Apr 18, 2005 06:15 AM

Well guys,
We should not blame players. We should blam the selectors and the managers for choosing the batting order. It is very frank that now Tendulkar can make centuries on or other. But he also eats lot of ball. For ODI you have to be a pinch hitter as you are opening batsman. It looks like in recent all test and ODI, not only tendulkar occupy the crease and eats the balls but also he is forching the other battsmen to play politely righ from the begining and this stategy is not going to work in the aggressive ODI. Since he is a genius, and we respect his ability we should not remove him from the match. But we can change his order. Instead of opening batsman, he should come always come in the 5th or 6th batsman. Since he is very experience batsman, he can try winning games for us. If he cannot whoelse!. But remember if he does perform well just kick him out. As a opening batsman he is totally destroying the others morality. All 10 playes follows his ideas and suggestion because of his geniousness. But his suggesion is not going work. Pl. kick him to the middle order. If he performs well just keep him in the team. Otherwise say bye bye him.

Comments about the Indian team

Sachin:the greatestbatsman in the world having serious problems with his confidence.Doesn;t know whether attack or to play defensively.Needs to psyclogically

Dravid: A committed player who has done a lot for the team.

Sehewag: Thinks that he is the best but is not.A mear immatured fool.Seems like he considers himself to be a clone of tendulkar

Ganguly.Needs a break to get his focus back in his batting or else his carrer is about to end

Dhoni; A good prospect

Yuvraj: Should be more consistent

kaif: More consistency to be expected.

cricket team.

cricket should be banned in India. It costs a lot to maintain bcci instead u can spend on some other good things.i think its time to change the whole team including sachin.we can not live on past.sachin was a good player thats the past.you can put conditions no matter how big you are.if u a player u should be able to play at any position atleast after 360 games.u just cant play as a opener.if u cant take pressure better u sit at home and watch it.i dont see any responsibility when sehwag or dhoni playing.if u see sehwag's runout in 3rd one day it will tell u his carelessness.i think our bowlers were given enough chances but there is nothing they have proved.if u take australia players like brett lee dont get a place in the team.kaif and yuvraj i dont see any contribution they make to the team.

Hard to see but easy to say
by Bhushan on Apr 18, 2005 05:10 AM

We have been watching cricket matches like crazy, all through our life. We are not the winners always even though we wish to be the one. Indian team needs more potential and team work, its hard to see that in them but its easy to say that they need to improve.

Its shame for the indian cricketers to loose the match so terriblly. Shahid afrid considers indian bowlers like school children playing in an international match. Our main players, they are not playing to their extent because whether they play or not their place is confirm in indian time. If Azaruddin was not kicked off from the team probable he might be still be in indian team as captain. The poitics are importnat for rather than performance of individual players when selecting for the team by BCCI.

Well to be honest India gave there performance according to their ability. I dont wanna judge any of the performance, but i would like to comment on those so called "Indian Cricket Fans" who never miss a chance to critisize indian team if they loose. I agree its very disheartning for any fan to see his team loosing to its arch rival and that too in their home ground.

But true Indian Supporter would the one who supports Indian team in their thick and thin. If you expect Indian team to be invincible then you are not watching cricket you are watching a battle. This is a game and one team has to loose. But atleast I would say our bowling department was not good as our batting department.

I would ask all Indian Cricket fans to support in any situation.
