Ganguly's exclusion.
by Guru on Apr 15, 2005 01:46 PM

Hi all,

Im a fan of Ganguly and i enjoy his game. Expecially the sixers. I dont think anyone will deny that fact. And no one denies the fact that he has played amazing cricket in the past.

But recently, his quality of cricket has certainly come down and he hasnt worked on his weakness. Every bowler bowls him on the lets and a bit short, and he is not able to handle.

For any sportsperson, it is not what he has contributed, but it is what he is contributing currently which matters. So if Ganguly is out of form, he should go out, take his time and return back. Should the whole team suffer because of his lack of form? If the past records is a qualification for a player to be in the team, then we should bring back kapil dev, gavaskar.. etc..etc... Irrespective of their previous achievements, whoever is in the best of form, should be in the team.

Now the man needs to get basics , go for county or state criket ( I fear evn if they take him ) and make runs and earn this baggy Blue cap .
Then only he will desrves respect . Go and Ever ask ur son , brother , nephew , friend who plays cricket and dint get selected in his clas Playing XII or club match or for that matter Street Match .. How frustrated he become when he learn that a player jisko khelan nahin ata woh captain hai ,... Keep saying that woh kabhi run nahin banata....

So Man even low string scores would affect his captaincy and focus .

Some readers keep stating the fact that Ganguly had amssed so much runs , backed younsters and amade TeamIndia .. but he is no Steve Waugh .. who had many much Gritty knocks , gave way to many players and made WORLD CHAMPS ( team india still not world champs ) so a lot of scope further on .

Individuals will come and go but Criket will prevail , No Man is big than cricket .. it can make u star
( case in point Sehwag , Dhoni , Pathan ) and could throw u out as loser ( Azhar , Mongian , jadeja , ganguly now ) .

Readr commneted that he is most apolitical and simple person .Tell U : he is bigggest political Man
No COMMENTS NEED On That

Ganguly Saga : Saga of Love , Hatred and Politics
by Sandeep on Apr 15, 2005 10:12 AM

" We want to Ganguly 's Head "--> It seems like a fav past time to ask for this man's head . After all it is one post afet the Prime Ministyer of India which desesrves so much attention ( Though I doubt its after PM post or Before PM ) .

Now one Mr. dasgupta above had commented about a conspiracy by All other such as Dravid and bringing bac Kumble in the team -- well a utter non sense .. If u can give ur comments on a known site , U just cant write any thing , FACTS neede .

No doubt Ganguly as captain is astute , supportive of young chickens and who can forgot a bit superstitious.
Overall he had done weel for India and himself . close to 10K runs in ODI which if u include the last bad phase of a year and half would still put him in leagues higher than Sachin ( of whom I am a bigger fan ) but Now the Man seems to had lost his touch .

Look I was one man who was avid Ganguly Fan , Loves very move he make , loves his shirt openin stuff, admires all his beads and neclaces in his neck but NOw things had become diffrent nowadays .

Well the man completely lost focus and now getin innovative ways to get out and playing like Guly Danda

coz of him some youngsters are still coolin heel

Ganguly

Ganguly is history now. His days are over. Nodoubt he was a good captain. but that days are over. Its time for him to sit out. It does not sound well for Indian Cricket that he should play because he is good captain. Does anyone think that there was no captain for team India before him and there will be no captain after him. One can not conclude . So give chance to new players. Who knows we may get even a better captain than Ganguly. Only thing is we should give them chances. Without that we cannot really know. can we stick to Ganguly till his death. Captains will come and go but team India Should prevail. And It will.
Hence Ganguly should sit out for the sake of Indian Cricket. Mr. Dalmiya should not meddle in the affairs of BCCI.

Ganguly

Keeping aside the emotional outbursts one has to assess Ganguly rationally.
a)Ganguly has been a great for India. His record proves it.He is the first captain(apart from Pataudi)without a regional bias.He took promising youngsters under his wings& backed them to the hilt giving them great confidence.
b)He eyeballed aggressive opponents or arrogant foreign Press without backing down.He gave the team a sense of belief, pride& direction.
c)As a batsman he has done very well specially in the ODIs.
The negative side of Ganguly reveals:
a)He does not put in the hard slog he expects from the team & therefore his cricket has suffered.
b)He has rigid, set theories about bowling & fielding. There is no Plan B orC.
c)Certain players do not find favour with him.Das, Chopra,Ratra,Kumble,M Karthik,Bhandari,Badani etc. They are the first to be dumped when chance comes.
c)His fielding&his running between wickets is atrocious.
d)He was an useful bowler. These days he doesn't even try!Like Razzak, he could have added a string to his bow.
e)His Test batting failures caused by a faulty technique and confused mind have made him a defensive, unimaginative captain now.

Is he INDISPENSABLE?

should ganguly play?
by krishna on Apr 14, 2005 07:26 PM

Yes! he should. once it was decided that he could, there should never be a question regarding whether he should or not. After all the BCCI a couple of days had said that they should be patient with Ganguly. Now they cannot use this as an excuse to drop him. If they really want to drop him, they should do it publicly. In the sense, they should give a press statement to that effect, and drop him. Not give lame excuses. At the same time, I would like to remind the readers of the way in which the Aussies dealt with Damien Martyn, when he was going through a similar crisis. We need to do the same.
Give him time. Give him a deadline. And if he fails after that, well that's too bad. Not just for Ganguly, but for the Indian team, as he is a match-winner on his day.
