Ganguly's Suspension
by R Gupta on Apr 13, 2005 04:32 PM

Good that Ganguly is banned for 6 ODI, the Indian Cricket Team Management had no courage to do so. They cannot do any thing for his poor performance as a batsman/captain.

There are many good players around but the Indian Cricket Team Management ensures that they don't come up by ensuring that none of the known figures are touched.

If a new comer fails in 2-3 innings, they are kicked, but established ones keep on getting one more chance. Once they have scored a good run/got few wickets, they are guaranteed for another 50 matches without question (just lost some form and may do well next time, that next time may come after 50 matches to guarantee their position again).

If the cricket team is not to be changed, do we need any one (BCCI) to select the Indian Cricket Team?

Ganguly' form.
by t k mishra on Apr 13, 2005 02:22 PM

There is an end to everything. It is the end of Ganguly's ist innings. He shall definately come back and that will be his 2nd innings. He should concentrate only in cricket and cricket only as he was doing before '96 instead of ads and his restuarant. He should play in county cricket this year which will build up his confidence. There is no player in India who can replace him in playing 11 at the moment considering all aspect (Batting, Bowling and captaincy).

Ganguly Ban
by Manuel Pires on Apr 13, 2005 12:48 PM

Dear Sir,
This is not the first time Ganguly is comiting this ofence. He fully deserve the punishment. And being the captain he should know all the rules and regulatin of the game he plays. Secondly the way he conduct himself as a captain and plays the game he simply does not deserve to be be part of the team at all.
Otherwise, which captain can justify for not able to defend 315 valuable runs scored by his coleagues. Only BCCI can tolarate this at the cost of national prestige. I am hurt like many other indians fan like me.
Manuel

Ganguly shud not b in the Indian Team again!
by rohan on Apr 13, 2005 11:36 AM

I think this 6match suspension may prove very costly for Sourav Ganguly,if Dravid helps India win the next 2 matches against Pakistan. It myt virtually put an end not only 2 Ganguly's leadership but also his place in the team.Afterall,he has been in the team for so long just coz he is the captain! I hope India wins the 5th and 6th ODI'S so that Dravid continues as the skipper for thenext 2 years atleast.

On behalf of millions of Indian Cricket fans, I thank you very much for the prompt action taken by ICC Match refree Chris Broad, banning Ganguly for 6 ODIs. We know that the impotent BCCI cannot take any action against Ganguly. Finally, ICC has done wonderful action and we are very happy. Wow! the Indian team gets ridden of Ganguly.

Ganguly banned for 6 ODI's? thats the dumbest thing i've ever heard. a 2 match ban wud have been understandable. but 6 matches? ICC certainly needs to revise its laws for the game.

now India can win..i guess...atleast now we will have 11 players on the field...not 10...sourav should take some rest..good time for him to ponder abt. his future...and if some newcomer clicks...it will be hard for him to come back in the team..all the best Rahul

6 match ban
by Nikhil on Apr 13, 2005 06:04 AM

The 6 match ban imposed on Ganguly is probably the best thing that can happen to Indian cricket at the moment. Even more than that, it is probably the best thing that can happen to Saurav Ganguly himself. Don't get me wrong, am a huge of of Saurav, but I must say, he needs a break. Its true that hes constantly under pressure and needs time to get things sorted out. If the selectors were to drop him, it might have affected his confidence further. Also, I don't think he himself would asked for a break since its dificult to think straight sometimes under so much pressure. So this is a nice way out. I just wish that the ban stays now. And i sincerely hope that Saurav takes this time out to relax a bit. Am confident that when he come back from this break, he'll be the person we all know and love and will be ready to destroy the careers of many more opposition bowlers by smacking them to pieces.
