Saurav Ganguly's batting technique
by P. S. Subramanian on Apr 11, 2005 10:17 PM

On observing Ganguly's batting, it is clear that his technique needs correction in two or three areas. Defective technique in these areas get him out. [1] When a good length ball is coming towards his stumps, he is playing across the line. There is no need to be defensive to such balls. He can certainly make a strong stroke but it should desirably on the line. [2] His over style of batting has to change to straight drives, on drives, off drives, etc, with the bat moving on the line. [3] His hooks and squate cut shots need to be more along the ground than lifted shots. His natural style, when hits in these directios, is to make lofted shots. The technique needs to be changed to produce more ground shots. [4] Ganguly is uable to curb his tendency to chase balls moving away outside the off stump or outside the leg stump.

If Ganguly, can make these corrections of technique, it will not be easy to dislodge him. Due to defective technique, he gets out before he gets a chance to score. His problem is more one of poor technique than of loss of form. Most of times he got out, he has applied one of the poor technique shots listed above.

Only thing constant & lasting is change
by DSK Rao on Apr 11, 2005 02:15 PM

India has a peculiar distinction of clinging to people whose time is definitely over, be it Politics ,Sports , Cinema , Journalism ... We have political leaders who had enjoyed power in their hey days , but refuse to allow younger & better people to fill their slots ! Even Saurav's case is also the typical Indian Clinging mentality syndrome! We need for lasting progress - CHANGE
