Dada's Career
by Bharat Dharamwani on Apr 14, 2005 11:47 AM

Ganguly Dada's Career is like another Dada's (Mithun Chakraborty's) career.

He went to top (well almost). There was Amitabh, Vinod Khanna in Mithun's time. There is Sachin and Dravid in Ganguly's time.

What Mithun Da faced in early 90's, Ganguly is facing in 2004-2005.

Ganguly should take heart from the fact that ater facing exile, Mithun is again getting a chance to act in movies like Elaan and Lucky-No Time for Love.

Never lose Hope

Bipul Dey
Indian Criket Team
by Bipul Dey on Apr 14, 2005 12:34 AM

I mostly try to keep my comments & thinking reserve to myself only but I would like to take this oppertunity to put forward some good lessons which I learnt from all these years I have given to this game.
In my view, Saurav must had admitted his fault of slow over-rate & must had kept him out from 4th ODI.In any case, when he played that match, try to remember the position when he came to bat, he came at the fall of Dhoni's wkt. India were 194 after 32nd over. At that point of time, India didnt needed floods of 4s & 6s at that time, India needed singles, doubles, Saurav's poor form should have made him think to send Kaif of Dravid to the crease, Imagine, the 33 odd balls Saurav faced & 18 runs scored, instead imagine someone inlieu of Saurav who might had made 30+ runs for that 33 balls, what a difference it whould had been to the total & may be to the result of the game.Cricket is a game, which is played with lot of brain now-a-days, which I think we always forget. The fieling placements should be perfect for each single batsman of the opposition. The players should move to their respective places in real quick time.I remember Viv doing so, while WI used to play with 5 fast bollers

ODI series IND/PAK
by Syed Abdul Khader on Apr 13, 2005 03:39 PM

The last ODI in Ahmadabad was interesting to watch,it is always the better side win in the end. No dout Inzy played a great captain nock and save the team in a most critical situation, Today the Shahed Afridi became monster for Indian bowlers.
In the end the memories refresh legendry cricketer the Imran Khan, yes In this match Pakistan played like Imran's team.

leadership
by srinivas on Apr 11, 2005 11:48 AM

What the heck. Leadership is not being aggressive. Just look at Ricky Ponting or Vaughan. They are not overly hyped or aggressive. Why do you guys always think Ganguly is good leader? There are so many reasons for Indias better results under Ganguly. Just compare contemporary cricketing standards across globe for instance. Only two countries are doing better. But one thing is sure, Ganguly is more social. He knows team building and garnering support. Otherwise this guy cannot even be selected for Bengal X1.

Sourav need some rest
by Ram on Apr 10, 2005 08:05 PM

Captain's duty is not only to toss the coin but also has to lead the team as role model. This is what most successful captains did in the history of cricket.
In his captainship stint Ganguly only enjoys success with the help of other team members. If any one gives me an instant of one such knock which saves India .Gangly is blessed with players like Sachin,Dravid,Kumble,Sehwag ,Harbhajan,Yuvraj,Kaif.Any Indian time captain has not having this much star under them ever since.I think this is the mantra behind his success .
He has to leave out of playing leven for atleast two games to watch others to correct his problem in the middle. In this way he can rolemodel to other players while the struggle with their form.

poor showing
by S.Ganesh on Apr 10, 2005 06:50 AM

After two consecutive wins, we have proved that we falter while batting under pressure. It is likely if Tendulkar is sent in two-down position and Ganguly asked to open. Yuvraj is yet to find his form. We still have the chance to clinch the series.

Commentaters On India
by Shailender on Apr 09, 2005 12:28 AM

I think Sanjay Manjerekar should be stopped from doing commentory in cricket matches as he always speaks against India and always applauds the opposing teams which is very demoralising. He should remain neutral while commenting and there should be a committee for commentators which keeps a watch on each & every commentator and define certain rules for commentators as well.

Kedar Shiroor
India, Ganguly and Newbies
by Kedar Shiroor on Apr 08, 2005 08:40 PM

I see a lot of comments being made about Pak being better than India and vice versa. I personally feel they are both equally inconsistent and cannot be called better than the other.

As far as Ganguly is concerned - He has been the best ever captain, a good leader, an amazing batsman etc... The most glaring point here is the word "HAS".

If he doesn't perform in the next few matches, he should like any other player who doesn't perform be dropped for a short period of time till he starts flowing like he used to in domestic cricket.

The only reason for India doing well under him, is because of the talent we have in the team. There is a lot of talk about how he harbors young talent and gets the best out of them. I think that's partly due to John Wright's vision as well.

As far as Ganguly opening, Not a good idea. He is short of confidence, and requires time at the crease when the ball isn't moving around in the air. The best place for him would be to come in around the 25-30th over and dab around for a while, play himself in and regain his much needed touch.

I do hope he gets back in form. If he doesn't, there are much more deserving players waiting in the ranks!

Farzan Siddiqui
Indian Victories
by Farzan Siddiqui on Apr 08, 2005 04:33 PM

I just wanted to express my happiness at the victories of the Indian Cricket team over the Pakistani team. The Indians have pummeled the pakistani team to win 2 matches and i can say that even though Ganguly did not perform to his potential, the team played decisively to win these matches. On paper, the pakistani team might look a much more potent one-day team but the reality is,all the wins they have achieved are due to either some outstanding batting or bowling performance. The same cannot be said of the indian team.
Another thing, critics please back off Ganguly. He might not be in form right now but remember he is the person who moulded india as a force to reckon with in the cricket arena.Remember,Inzamam was in poor form in the world cup and no one asked him to resign because he is a leader.Give Ganguly time and he'll be back with a BANG.
And yeah,Mr.Fazal,i saw how good the pakistani team was when india beat pakistan in pakistan in the Tests and One-Day and now here in India. For your sake, think before you speak or write for that matter.
