Who is Bedi?
by Atindra Shukla on Apr 08, 2005 04:00 PM

Bedi is known for making useless comments, to add one more such. Ganguly was made captain with his stunning performance all round. But if we look critically to his records what did he do personally with Bat, bowl or on field? He failed to set an example in any part of cricket except dealing with media, board, so-called experts of Indian cricket, ICC etc. Ganguly is the most successful captain but is it on his own capacity and performance? Just compare with Mitali Raj captain of Indian women cricket team, see her dedication and determination against world champion NZ in semi-final, can we remember such performance by Ganguly in any such tournament final or semi-finals (dont recall Kenya, B'desh etc matches)? Take example of Steve Waugh, what did he do wrong when Ponting replaced him? Nothing he put Aus on top, he united the team, Identified talents but he himself was not consistently delivering with bat or bowl on ground. why is so much reluctance on discussing a change in leadership of Indian team now?

Indians are not good coaches
by Ravichandran.B on Apr 08, 2005 03:57 PM

I simply cannot agree with Mr.Bedi's remarks about appointing Gavaskar as coach of Indian team. Gavaskar is a great player but a great player cannot make a great coach and this adage was proved beyond doubt by past coaches like Bedi, Kapil Dev and others too (Bedi can simply wash off his hands by saying he was not given a team of his choice or anything like that). Indians are not good in updating themselves with the latest trends, technologies with regard to coaching and hence no Indian (including Mr.Gavaskar) can become a good coach. John Buchanan never scored a 100 or a 200 or a 300 and similarly Bob Woolmer too was not a great player when he played for England but they both turned out to be creative and innovative coaches for International teams. In tennis too, Brad Gilbert, Gunther Bosche, Ian Tiriac, Jason Staltonberg and Tim/Tom Gullikson never won even a single grand slam tournament but still could turn out players into multiple grand slam winners through their creativity and by adopting latest techniques in their respective sport.Indians as coaches have not done anything not only in Cricket but in Hockey, Football and other sports too.Go for foreigers who R professionals.

Ganguly must stay as Captain reg
by Rama Krishna on Apr 08, 2005 03:00 PM

I duly respect cricket legend Mr.Bedi for his contributions to the Indian cricket. But it is very difficult to digest his comments regarding continuation Ganguly as Indian Captain. He may running through bad patch of his career, but he is playing very irresponsible in his present stage. Even child also came to know where to place fielders when Ganguly came for batting (in Slips). If Bedi sir comments based on success statistics of captain, I don't mind if he appointed as Non-Playing captain as in tennis. The success is due to team work not by Ganguly.I believe. But still I respect Mr.Bedi

Bedi's nonconsistent opinion about Ganguly
by tgoswami on Apr 08, 2005 01:37 PM

I am surprised to read the artical by Bedi about Ganguly's continuation in the Indian team .He was so vociforous in TV channels against Ganguly and expressed that he does not deserve to be in the team, not even as as a player. What happened now? Did he just find out his own records as captain and his own inconsistent performance? Please spare us opinion of such persons in all forms of communication channells. We do not need such expertise & irresponsible comments in future.

tgoswami.

Bedi - the Mr perfect, as he thinks he is...
by Kiran Sham on Apr 08, 2005 09:40 AM

Bedi may have a great track record behind him but I am NOT sorry to say that he is one x-cricketer with a bunch of most irrelevant comments in his pack. He criticized Ganguly earlier for the latter's captaincy. But he now supports Ganguly since he has done well as a captain. He thinks allowing bowlers to bend their arm up to 15 degrees is stupidity where as his own arm was bent up to 12 degrees when he bowled. These are nothing but the comments from a person with tonnes of ego and superiority complex. He would be the last man India needs as a coach.

Bedi has never been correct
by Prem on Apr 08, 2005 01:12 AM

In 13 yrs of following the game, I have heard a lot from Bishen Bedi. and I know for a fact that he is reincarnation of crap. he has never been correct all his life. he thinks hes one of the worlds greatest cricketers, but if he bowls his left arm spin today, India wud be fighting between bangaladesh for the 9th spot to the ICC test rankings.

reg retaining Ganguly as captain
by subash on Apr 07, 2005 09:39 PM

Hi,

I think we should not have two different yardsticks when it comes to who form the final 14. If Ganguly is good enough then why can't Laxman who is an aggressive batter be accomodated? Ganguly should try to get out of the team and try to regain some precious form. He looks woefully inadequate in the one dayers. I think we should ask Rahul to lead the Indian cricket team so that Ganguly can focus on batting and get back to vintage best.

Regards,
Subash
