attitude that he should learn to deal with. He cant be continued in the team forever just bcoz he is a Ganguly's man. He is talented, but you are spoiling him. At 23 he can be more humble, keen to learn and keen to perform better....but let him feel the pressure and need to perform. Is he an irreplacable member in the squad that he cant be given a break for 2 matches? What right does he have over other talented young, humble cricketers who have not even been selected in the team and who can perform better? Dont they deserve a chance to prove?
Intelligent captain and selection committee by now would have realised that Laxman can perform well and tremendously when rested for few matches. Then give him the rest he needs. Rest him for 2 matches for every match he plays and he would be superb. Give him a permanent berth...he would like to snore.
Ganguly should stop thinking with limited options. He should realise that there should be team spirit with all team mates equally close, that young cricketers should learn to respect all the senior mates not just him....you teach them to ignore others, they will learn to ignore and stop listening you soon.
Look at the reserve Australia has

Groupism spoiling Indian Cricket

Indian Cricketers might have performed well in the past two years. But when will the Indian captain stop living in the past glory? "We are a good side and played tremendous cricket over the last two years" are the words cricket lovers get to listen for the past 6 months.
Indian is a huge country with a vast population and there are many talented creicketers. The lucky few who make it to the team get popular. But doesnt the Captain and ever sleeping selection committee realise that no one buys a permanent berth in the team. We have huge talent. Why dont you atleast use them as reserve? I mean not the way Parthiv Patel and fresh keeper are being used. You carry them with you to carry your bats and drinks and on a fine day kick them out saying that they have been given 'too many opportunities'. Come on...if you remember they were just experimented in every possible way, never let them gain confidence...young partiv was made to sit out of baby matches and suddenly brought in for big days...experimented from opening slot to no.6 & 7.
Now what makes Yuvraj Singh, Laxman or Sehwag superior Indians or cricketers? I agree that Yuvraj is talented. He is just 23 and also has a big attitude

Hai
To pull indian cricket to no.1 spot there should be some standards on the salary part of team like if one player scores 50runs he has to paid limited amount. And i don't know why they placed rohan gavaskar in the team.I am not telling he can't do well still we have some players who can do better than him like dhinesh mongia, sridharan sriram etc..

no fun of having a single practice game washed out
by vinish Garg on Sep 30, 2004 01:00 PM

I am really surprised how the respective boards agree to such schedules, where a visiting team agrees to have only one practice game. What if the entire game or major part of the game is washed out. The ICC should take more responsibility. Same wil be the fate of South African Cricket team, for the short tour in November. This is very sad for cricket. What if India get the same treatment in Australia or England?
