Telecast of Cricket

Cricket in India is treated like God. Then why dont BCCI allows big boys(ESPNSTAR) to handle the issue. Any other sports channel only will make fuss of it rather than telecasting the much awaited series. What we as viewers need is superior quality picture and ear soothing commmentators.

Telecast rights

In the end the consumer will suffer. Sony reduced cricket to a farce by promoting Mandira Bedi. ESPN-Star and Zee will follow suit.

Let us promote other games like soccer, swimming, track & field, tennis at al and get rid of this Britsh Raj legacy once and for all.

The telecast rights
by aafaq on Sep 18, 2004 07:05 PM

In a country like ours, anything attached with cricket becomes a big issue, this isnt a big issue but as usual it has been made BIG, people around the country would love to see cricket, I went through couple of comments on rediff, one was saying we all want to see cricket that is important not who will telecast it.I think he was correct to an extent, the other said the BCCI should give it to set max, a Sony Entertainment Channel. But let me come to my point, its true we all want to & love to see good cricket, but did we ever licked it as much as we licked it on ESNP-Star, forget about the telecast, can anybody tell me who they like hear as commentators? Iam sure answer will pour in asSunil Gavaskar, Geoffrey Boycott, Ravi Shastri, Alan Wilkins, Navjot singh Sidhu, Wasim Akram & other, and not to forget the talking genius Harsha Bhogle. When this kind of commentary is there it is always fun & interesting to watch cricket,we all experienced the commentary of Set max in world cup, we can easily find a huge difference between the standards of ESPN-Star,the coverage, the commentary team, the analysis, everything they do it with perfection,so give it to them & enjoy every moment of it.

Give rights to Indian based channels
by comment on Sep 18, 2004 06:59 AM

I would advise board to give rights to Indian based channels - be it anyone although other production channels provide better quality and more professionally without masala stuff.

Look at the contracts of UK based companies - all major contracts are awarded to local companies which would generate revenue and more jobs inside their COUNTRY.

Cricket generates lots of revenues and people are crazy and hence should be more rewarding for US.

Be Indian, Jai Hind

comments on espn&zee topic

According to me at the end the viewer has to watch the match& not espn or zee. Therefore there should be a survey of atleast 1000 people done to get what the common man wants espn or zee. Atleast my vote goes to espn for there excellent coverage of the game of cricket in the earlier years
