Just another ordinary son of an extra ordinary father.

Rohan has shown nothing worthwhile nor has he shown that he is international material. And in this star studded indian batting line up I dont think he'll be able to do the job if six others have failed miserably. Its better to stick with 6 batters+ 1 wickie+ 4 bowlers rather than going for rohan and risking injuries to Dravid, who is such an asset now to the team, especiaaly after his marriage. If you see his performance after his marriage you will see that there is an aggressice streak in him and also sense of fearlessness, and we wonder if he is the same player who once declined to play aggressive strokes even while asked by his captaIN AZHARUDDIN

Who is Rohan
by Sachin on Sep 16, 2004 10:36 AM

Well... I don't have anything to comment since we were supposed to respond to a discussion,..well..where is the discussion. If Rohan is whom we are talking about, well, this is not even worth discussing. And hence there is no debate here. However for th sake of saying, let me spit out something. He is a national waste and just fit to cool his heels by watching cricket on the TV in his house(maybe on a big screen). I don't think this fellow is worth even a penny above that.

it happens only in India...
by RA on Sep 15, 2004 11:12 PM

It happens only here in India where Influence is in every game. No talent, no skills reqd. If ur dad has power then u can be even the cricket captain. well those days are not far away frm Rohan. How much of talent is wasted here...I hope the ppl realise this and give equal opportunity for all...

Why can't include Sunil Gavaskar himself now?
by Vishwa on Sep 15, 2004 08:55 PM

Hi,
I think even now Sunil Gavaskar is better than Rohan Gavaskar. Rohan has been selected at the expense of other 'REAL' talents like Badani, Sriram, Rayudu etc. So pity him? Even though he is not playing for India, is he not making handsome money?

Selectors please carry on your good work and make him the Captain of the Indian team as early as possible.

Rohan Gavaskar
by Sanjeev on Sep 15, 2004 08:52 PM

Well,
I think Badani and Dinesh Mongia are far better than Rohan, both capability and talent wise.
They are ignored.
As compared to Sehwag for opening slot, someone must be kidding

Another Rediff Hype
by yogi on Sep 15, 2004 07:45 PM

Probably there isn't a poor bolly movie to hype,so rediff is hyping Rohan. He's a average player.Decent bat, decent bowler & a decent fielder. That's it.I'll prefer to try out a young player rather to give chances to rohan.May be rayudu is a better option. And definitely rohan comes in picture 'cos, badani is injured.Else no rohan at all.

how come he is in the team
by senthil on Sep 15, 2004 05:36 PM

how come he is in the team? we have many players like dinesh mongia, badani and many more who already proved their big innings..

Despite of all who selected gavaskar into the team.. he is in the team b'coz of his father not for his talent...

he must be dropped from the team
