Congratulations for selecting repetedly the useless guyes like Ganguly, Laxman, Sahvag, Yuvraj and Kaif,

They are doing the work what you have expected from them. Making India to lose the matches.

Anyway you have also been selected this way only so what can we expect from you. Keep up.

Few days ago, Mr.Dalmiya justified BCCI decision of giving ZEE the telecast rights by saying that "EVERY ONE NEEDS TO GIVEN A CHANCE". This new post of his shows that he does not belive in what he says.

Dalmiya the Superman of Indian Cricket
by Rajeev Kumar on Sep 15, 2004 11:25 PM

Folks whatever his mistakes in the past let us give praise where it is due. He is the man who tool on the night of the tradional power centre of cricket. He is the one who has brought so much money to cricket. Do remember if he ws not there Tendulakars and Dravids would be earning far less than what they are earning now. We in India always tend to undermine persons who rise to the top. What he has accomplished is as good as what Narayanmurthy has done. No one can mess around with the Indian cricket board these days. That in itself is a credible achievement.

Govt. intervention

Nice article on the dictatorship of Dalmiya. Its bad that a lot of credit is given to Dalmiya for what he's not done. The standards of stadiums have not increased. This calls for the Government of India to step in and take over the BCCI. At least it will kick out the monkeys who are running the show in the BCCI.
Or maybe perhaps, Tendulkar can retire and stand for elections as BCCI President. Surely there'd be no competition for him. He can do what others fear.

Dalmiya the king of indian cricket

Power corrupts absolute power corruption. Taste of power can never be compromised. Once ascended to the top and reigned for a while, the mind never accepts any rest or retirement. The urge will create sleepless nights to get back to it or to create a caucus to regain the position at any cost. This is more so with Mr Dalmiya. His craving & craze for power, not minding the nosediving of the indian cricket during his regime as the chairman of BCCI, is a standing example. Come what may, go anything , I must stay in power. This is his motto. Cricket is only secondary for him. Whether India wins or not, he wants his henchmen in the team and his naivestateman should lead the team to diaster. Look one win out of 14 outings(finals). Still the BCCI has proved it is spineless body and is the sole asset of Dalmiya. Disgace man, disgrace to the nation. While several things are subject to periodic review by the Govt, why some sports are exempted.
There is no answer to this because persons who do not even know the spelling of SPORTS are ministers/PMs and head of olympic association. What to do, mr Indian, bear with it and accept it as your fate.
One thing is sure only God should save India.

Make him a consultant if you want to use his experiance, thats how it works in other parts of the world!
by sundar on Sep 14, 2004 08:31 PM

They made us think only Dalmia knows how to deal with ICC and if we let him go, it his knowledge will go waste. Its the stupidest thing to say from Shetty. There are somany top posts in the world, do you think they all do like this - create a new post and retain the same person even after their period is over? if that were the case, there wouldn't have been that limitation of 3 yrs.
If they still want to use his experience after his period, make him the consultant and use his talent and experience. Afterall thats what people do in other organizations whereever they have this limitation with the number of years a person can hold a post. Its not wise to create a new post everytime you find a better leader.

Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely

The BCCI has been as transparent as a block of granite. So is its accouuntability and sense of logic-hard as rock. But it functions like a oneway valve-it needs spectators, viewers to pay but then the emperor shall not walk, shall not talk.
And it is adding more n more safety nets for its own position-no press conferences about selections, no questions answred about telecast deals, about finances, about its office bearers. This is one more step towards concretising the empire called BCCI much more than it was during the viceregal years.

Extended innings

Indian cricket has grown and grown well under Jagmohan Dalmiya's able guidance. There is no harm in taking advantage of his experience and guidance in his new position.

I think the BCCI has taken the right step in continuing with Dalmiya albeit as a different role. It is unfair to compare him with Sonia and make an issue out of it. If it is for the good of Indian cricket, then so be it.
