Ayan Ganguly
India's future prospects.
by Ayan Ganguly on Sep 13, 2004 08:58 AM

Have anyone seen Karthik keep against Harbhajaan. At least he has given 10-12 runs in byes the other day(Vs Kenya). After watching India's A Tour to Africa that in one dayers atleast wicket keeper batsman MS Dhoni should be given a chance coz he is an excellent hitter with consistency in his batting avaerages & well as a decent keeper too. This is a kind of player which our team dearly needs in the one dayers. One dayers now a days is not nugging & pushing the balls but hitting the ball long too at times & our team lacks that kind of player at no. 7.Dhoni not only hits the ball hard but carefully builds his innings in the middle overs.A player which one can use at no.3 as well as in the middle & lower middle order. He can be flexible in his position & a good utility player in all.I think common sense will prevail with our new selectors & hopefully he will make it.

Changes required
by Prakash on Sep 05, 2004 10:16 AM

I feel changes are required as we have nothing to lose in today's match as we have already lost the series and need to build confidence in the run-up to Champions Trophy. I would suggest the following eleven in the same batting order:

Ganguly
Yuvraj
Dravid
Laxman
Sehwag
Kaif
Dinesh Kartik
Agarkar
Pathan
Harbhajan
Balaji

Bring new talent to open the innings
by SV on Sep 05, 2004 06:06 AM

India has two good opening batsmen waiting in the wings. Dheeraj Jadhav and Shikar Dhavan. Kick Shewag out and bring on the new talent. Enough of inconsitent performances. We need to groom an opening pair that can provide consistent performance.

A change is a must
by Wg Cdr MK Bose on Sep 05, 2004 02:44 AM

With India losing the second ODI to England it goes to Lords only with the hope of avoiding a whitewash. At this stage it has nothing to lose and everything to gain only if the thinktank can judiciously try out some new faces before the start of the ICC trophy. In my opinion Dinesh Karthik could be given a look in in place of Laxman and with Tendulkar rulrd out of the ICC trophy the selectors must recall Dinesh Mongia, more so when Sehwag is so woefully out of form. Well! Gavaskar has been retained. The justification of retaining a bowler/middle order bat in place of an opener(Tendulkar) is not understood. Well:then the inimitable style of the Indian selectors has never been understood. It was Sunil GAvaskar who had once callled this Indian selectors 'a bunch of .....' Does he has to say anything now or everything is fair and true when it comes to his son getting selected.

Hey caption ! Y dont U drop Gavaskar or Yuvaraj ?
by Vijay on Sep 04, 2004 06:45 PM

Hey Caption,
Why dont you drop gavaskar or Yuvaraj so that Dravid will be free from dual role, Once rahul gets his form after that you follow 7 batsman theory.Caption remember our main problem is Rahul Wall Dravid is not playing.

Regards
Vijay

Ganguly is time up!
by CHAKKU on Sep 04, 2004 04:43 PM

Guess we should no more rely upon ganguly because he has not brought us results in the last 3-4 one day series. For india to be a top team, we have a have a constant winning stroke. This has to be proved by the indian cricket time from time to time,at different conditions. But India has'nt! so i think it is time up for ganguly. he should be removed from captaincy and other players should be encouraged to do the job.My choice would be VVS Laxman, who has a command over the game and leadership qualities too. A captain should be someone who learns himself teaches his team mates. But sourav refuses to accept any advice from his team mates, how can he bring the team to top position? may be he needs to giveup, and accept it is not proving your captaincy ganguly it is proving india's winning ability.
