We already have seen what happened when sachin was the captain. Come on yaar, India have been very good under ganguly and its just these two or three matches, so dont be hasty.

I am sure they will bounce back in the champions trophy.

dismal performance
by singh on Sep 04, 2004 10:30 AM

hi think there is some serious lack of spirit in the indian team and a huge difference in the players when compared to the pakistan and australian series. the hunger to win the match seems to be lost . the management needs to quickly sort out the problems before it is too late for them to realise coz they just cant think it as a bad patch and hope the best is yet to come .Now that they have already lost the series in england and playin the last game for pride . They should atleast try for some new combinations in the openning slot .

Overhaul The Team
by Sanjay on Sep 04, 2004 02:41 AM

It is time to let go Ganguly, Dont mean to be harsh on Dravid & Laxman but it is time to make them a permanent in the Test side instead of One day. India has good players in Dhoni, Rayudu, Karthik, Gambhir who score quickly and have to be groomed for next world cup. Agarkar is the biggest fluke he has to be let go .. Paul, Munaff Patel and Bhandari have to be given more chances. Dont know why Gavaskar is in the team. Kaif has to be in the team and sent at 2-3 down. There are so many options someone has to h ave the guts to make whole sale changes ...

I really think that Ganguly should retire. India badly needs new and motivated players and Ganguly at the helm is hardly inspiring to say the least. True, the records under him doesn't sound that bad, but his own performance over the 4 years or so well under average. Anybody can pick up this stats in both tests and ODI in the last 4 - 5 years and see for himself what I mean. He has hardly had any big scores and all his 3 centuries during the last world cup came against weak opposition. Otherwise, he didn't even make a 50. Except for Sachin, all other batsmen have been erratic in their performance and Kaif is just into the side because of the last Natwest final and another innings immediately after that in Sri Lanka. Since than, he has hardly done anything of note in nearly 40 or more matches played since. He is best suited for 12th man to come in as replacement and do some fielding. Some may say that he comes in at an awkward position, but our top order has failed on many occasions to give him ample opportunity which he hasn't responded to.

Bottomline is that India needs an inspiring captain, not one who raves about much more than there actually is to do so for.
