Indian cricket teams have won many laurels in the past and all credit to them, but here's something to think about. Why is it that Sachin Tendulkar's elbow gets more media coverage (when the man wasn't even playing) than Sania Mirza's second successive ITF title win in Lagos? Are we trying to say it's easier to win a tennis game? At least Rediff carried out a full article, but did she make the front page of all dailies or even sports publications? This is not to mention the kind of support we, as a nation, are giving to Sania. Why does Jagmohan Dalmia's position with the BCCI get more coverage than Anju Bobby George's performance at Athens? Think about it - is it easy to play a dozen teams in cricket or qualify for the Olympics? This is what is wrong with Indian cricket. There's too much of it. Give it credit, but only what it deserves. It's about time we encouraged our other sportsmen and women who are fed up at the step motherly treatment meted out to them. Cricket is just another sport. It doesn't deserve any more credit than that.
Its up to the media not to give the team/BCCI so much importance, what one needs to realise is the way things are going, BCCI an cricketers are going to need the media more than the media needs them.Turn your back to them and they will come scampering behind you!!
Yes the media is right, a correct picture is to be given for the media to write something. This shows that the BCCI is making a full of it self in all the facets of the game and is only bothered about rhe money coming in and giving it to the so called patrons of cricket.
The needless delay in telling everybody about Ganguly's "injury" was it required plenty of "research" to discover a para-medical phrase which made little sense to the public,as well as its "inventors" (!), it had perforce to be couched in un-intelligible jargon...an "ingeniuous" invention ?
Actually Ganguly & Co., are now running shit-scared lest Ganguly be proved to have "deserted" his team and the Country...calling for the most stringent punishment...
Simply sacking him WILL NOT DO...he should be PUBLICLY "CASHIERED"...!
Do we need a batting consultant? The team performed well in the world cup, Australia and Pakistan, all abroad and in India before the this series. Did we have this batting consultant then? Then why do we need a `consultant' now? The complexion of the game has changed now and we need someone who will fill that roll exactly...someone with a killer instinct like Stev Waugh for that role...None from the old league will fit for any managerial role as like Rameez Raja said, this is a different India team and the first one which plays with aggression and with a purpose...
There should be a PIL demanding that The B.C.C.I should be covered under the ambit of The Right to Information Act,like any Governmental or Publis Service Body, because it is a "Cash Cow" administered by a set of unscrupulous Businessmen and their political 'affliates',which plays on the gullibility and aspirations of millions of Indian Citizens who are passionate about Cricket and feel that the Indian Cricket Team represents The Nation.THANX.
