India Exposed

Its not as if our Batsmen were out of form, the reality is we just dont have enough quality in our team.Other than Tendulkar and Dravid nobody else including Laxman or Ganguly wud qualify as world class. Our bolwers r really pathetic.

We lost the chennai test becos of Ganguly's poor captaincy ,be it going on the defensive against gillespie or selection of Parthiv.Thank God it rained ,otherwise the series wud have been 4-0 for the Aussies.

Ganguly is Huge liability. He is simply not good enough at the Test level and has no place in the Test team.So is Laxman. But we do not have enough bench strength to replace them.Once Kumble retires do we have a replacement for him ,to win test matches atleast at home?.

Dont dare call India as the second best team.We were just lucky last year.
The Gap between our Expections and the Quality in out team is too wide to bridge.

Stop this non-sense
by Murali Vedartham on Nov 01, 2004 07:13 AM

Stop this non-sense of glorifying the Australians!

They did play well indeed but the fact also remains that with the exception of Sehwag, all other batsmen are out of form, not just for this series but ever since they retunred from the break. Patel should have been dropped right after we returned from AUS and to top it all, we gave AUS a pitch which suited them more than it did India.

None of their plans would have been of any use if even two of our batsmen were in form but that was not to be. While I credit the Aussies for their achievement, I also acknowledge that it was NOT just their superior abilities which won them the series!

Let's just stop there instead of over praising them!

35 years jinx is broken, without a fight.Bad show guys

Once again they showed that they are the best in the world,& once again we showed that we dont have consistency even in home conditions, the only thing surprises me is,read this: Chopra,Sehwag,Dravid,Laxman,
Ganguly,Tendulkar,Yuvraj,Kaif,
'Paper tigers' thats what we can call them, defeat makes you sad,but without fight it hurts, the expectation was so high, but god knows when our team will learn the 'C' of consistency, the aussie's played how they usually play,we played badly,we have to accept that too.In the last three test matches, there wasn't rarely a single session when we had put them under pressure, except in Chennai, but luck was not on our side!when you have such experienced side, player who have played more than 3 series with the aussies home and abroad,& still you cant give a fight then its just waste, there was nothing as 'final frontier',as the columns editor said, this took a long time because the Australian team didn't had the firepower together, its all over now, they came, they conquered & they won,it was really hurting to see how badly we lost, even if we win the last test,I think it wont be acceptable!35 years jinx is broken, without a fight.Bad show guys

defeat
by Dr Rajendra on Oct 29, 2004 08:53 PM

Win or lose is all in a game... what worries one is the manner in which we have lost... there is no spine in our batting.... the greats like Tedulkar Dravid and Laxman seem to fail time after time, especially when it seems to matter the most. The other sad aspect is that groupism in the selection process is rampant... our wicket keeper being the prime example...

Yeah True, But.....

Yeah the aussies played like men possessed and it was very clear that they were more focussed and determined than us. But our team was very unlucky too throughout the tour. Bad decisions, bad whether, loosing toss all the time. Just imagine - Had it not rained in chennai, Had India won the tosses....Maybe results would have been different. Agreed, they batted like novices...but they had all factors going against them.. Seems like aussies were destined to win & we were destined to loose. Team India, Better luck next time!! I'll be there to cheer you!!

Indian Teams Debacle
by S.K.Patnaik on Oct 29, 2004 08:31 PM

The weak link in the Indian team is the opening pair. For short term gains a player like SS Das has been kept out of the team. In the last home series against Australia he was instrumental in blunting the attack of bowlers like McGrath and Shane Warne. He made 84 against them in one innings in the last test. His average was the 4th best after Dravid, Laxman and Tendulkar. In the last Duleep Trophy he made 3 consecutive centuries and single-handedly propelled East zone into final. It is high time players like him get their place back in the team and it will be good for the team.

Indian Cricket?
by R.K.Sharma on Oct 29, 2004 08:13 PM

ONE OF THE MOST GUTLESS PERFORMANCES THAT I'VE EVER SEEN.Atleast till late we were proud that no matter what kinda form the indian cricket team is in it'll always be difficult to beat them on home turf, but today there is nothing left to be proud about, if you can't hold the fort at your own home then nothing is expected of you elsewhere. I think it's time to drop some individuals from the battling line up cause they are nothing but liability to the team.
