How Ganguly convinced the curator
by manish on Oct 26, 2004 12:44 AM

The story of the Nagpur wicket is a perfect reflection of how much politics has got into Indian cricket. The local affiliate of the BCCI does not get along with the newly elected BCCI members - so it decides to ignore all requests from the cricket board and Saurav ganguly for a turner. The curator does exactly opposite to what he is asked to do.

But then, the Indian captain is a smart cookie. Ganguly meets the local authorities and the curator and politely expresses his surprise that Nagpur is still allowed to host cricket matches, despite the fact that 13 spectators had died in an India- New Zealand match on this very ground due to a wall collapse.

The curator immeditely senses what is in store - sings a different tune and shaves off all the grass.

God bless Indian cricket.
