Yes,Yuvraj can never be a good & long-term option for opening slot. When we already have aggressive batsman like Sehwag at one end, who as a matter of fact is also a makeshift opener; we should definitely have one specialist for the other slot like Gambhir or Jadhav.
i think the seleters have made the right choice of letting yuvaraj.s as opener . it would also be good if kaif was also an opener in test because he is the right person to stay and play and v.shewag to go all guns blazing.
i agree that yuvrai must open the batting line up for the indian team because chopra does not last for not more than 40 runs in certain times.and as well v.s needs a very fast runner by him to run fast.
Yuvraj is an entertaing player, no doubt, but SUITS to only ONE DAY Cricket. 5 Day Cricket is not his Cup of Tea, more so in the Opening slot. I agree, It is a folly! SSDas, Chopra, Bagar etc, who were intially praised for their contribuiton as Openers and showering praises like, "we have found an opening partner to Shewag atlast" etc, etc, were dumped for no reason. Similarly, Wicket keepers like Ajayratra, Dinesh Mogia, Dahia, Jaffer etc, were duped after just one or two matches for no plausible reasons, while Patel who seems to have "many holes in his Wicket keeping Gloves", continues, even when he is going to make a "century of dropped catches". Do we have any policy or system, or just go by one's whims and fancy??
I definately agree that in those two tests Yuvraj have acted nothing like a opening batsman. However about making Kaif an opener, don't know about that. Don't get me wrong I like him alot, selectors made a perfect move bringing him in now, he definately deserves it. I wonder why they don't open with Tendulkar in test too, he does open in Onedays and now a days he is also playing to occupy the crease as long as he can, even in onedays.
Folly to make Yuvraj open

I totally agree with your views. Both Yuvraj Singh and Parthiv Patel should be sacked and sent home on camel's back. These blokes make money by container loads, get the best of things in life, but alas cannot deliver the goods. They take things for granted.
Parthiv Patel looked like a moron during the second test. He was totally confused and bewildered and if he had some sense of decency, he would have backed out from the third test. However, the temptation of money is too great and can overcome one's sense of decency and conscience. Yuvraj Singh's performance is very, very bad and he should not have been selected and should prove himself in domestic cricket.
The selection of Ashish Nehra is a wrong choice indeed. He can just bowl, but is a bunny with the bat. He is a bad fielder too. In his place, Ajit Agarkar would have been a better choice, because he is an all-rounder.
You just need to believe in yourself and find the strength and courage that lies within us.
If only we believe. Sehwag did it and now it is the time for Yuvraj to deliver. But there are some fools who will always shout whenever something new is tried out. They are orthodox people who can't do anything in their life. Those same people cried when Sehwag was asked to open n the most funniest statement was when Mr. X (I don't know his name) says "Sehwag is a striker of the ball. His bat comes down straight on the ball". At that time they were heavily criticising the same move.
Many congrats to Ganguly n the team for the daredevilry. You move on the track with an idea that if you do it,the country wins. You better know, how? I am pretty sure that now we would be producing not only great players but a great team which India desperately needs.
If you do it all for yourself, it's good, but if you do it for a cause, it would be great.
The same is happening with the wicketkeeper issue in one-dayers. Nobody was able to solve the opener n wicket keeper issue for the past 6-7 years. But with Ganguly's daredevilry India has got some fixed solution.
