Shepherd was so sure -- cocksure -- that Kasprowicz was not out, that he seemed to be ordering the other batsman to call him back! Is it not time we got rid of the two vainglorious fools (the other one being the infamous Bucknor) that have been harassing Indian cricketers for a number of years now.
It was very sad that the Australians could not 'Run' (I mean score many RUNs) but atleast some of them 'walked' without waiting for the Umpire's signal, which was not forth coming in one case. Here is another case of an 'old' man standing as an Umpire when he should have retired many months ago. Not all can be like our Venkat. Be it a Player or an Umpire the 'retirement' should be announced so that fans will be asking 'WHY' instead of making them say 'WHEN'?
It's good, I am in US of A,this journal gave me the picture of what happened at Chennai. But make sure that you don't misspell anything from next time. All the best bye bye
For me the greatest Indian spinners were Subhash Gupte, B.S. Chandrasekhar, E.A.S. Prasanna and S. Venkataraghavan. I wonder when India's test quartet were playing in the '60s and '70s, would a cricketer of Anil Kumble's abilities have found a place in the team. For a spinner playing at international level, he is not able to turn the ball. The 400 odd test wickets he has taken could be because, 1) he does not have any quality competitors, except Harbhajan Singh, 2) because of the bounce he gets (rather than spin), and 3) these days cricketers' itinerary is so tight that he may play over 100 tests and over 300 ODIs during his career. Thus, he has the opportunity to get cracking at regular intervals. In yesteryears, if cricketers played just five tests in a calendar year, they could consider themselves lucky and there were no ODIs. E.A.S. Prasanna, Bishen Singh Bedi, B.S. Chandrasekhar and S. Venkataraghavan were top quality spinners and none of them could hog the limelight because all were so good that they had to share the wickets and because of them other good spinners were not considered, e.g. Rajinder Goel and V.V. Raman.
sir, ganguly, dravid, laxman should immediately take advice from gavaskar and mohinder amarnath, gundappa viswanath as well use their tremendous experience till date, play like srilankans do with some sensible, patienceto come with big first inning total to break australian back.i have also some more advice if contacted. with regards praveen misra ph-22354482
It would be too early to say that india has command or upper hand over Chennai test because another 4 days has to go and one stupid or care less session by indians for which they are famous for will turn the game into Australia's favour. we should keep in our mind that mighty Australians can come back in to the test at any time. we hope indians will bat bravely/couragely and make a big total in the first inning and will not let us down which in recent time they are doing very consistently. Score a big total in first inning and then ask aussies to face the Kumble/bhajee music. Both were superb today.please keep it up for 1 billion indians!!!!!
writing from Annapolis...Maryland in the USA. its is high time the Indian batting order is planned once and for all...too many scapegoats are being used at the top of the order making them vunerable for their places in the side...do not keep chopping n chipping the side have faith in yr squad and persist with them...beat the bullies of the game once in this test and then they are bunch of twits who wudn't know what really hit them...bye the way who has given them the official status as the best side in the game..perhaps their media...come on boys...go for it TEAM INDIA....Rgds///Conrad Young.
I think its high time Ganguly's autocratic ways on selection are curbed.
I simply don't understand what Yuvraj Singh is doing in place of Aakash Chopra. Had Chopra been around, he'd still have been at the crease and India would've been 28/0.
Yuvraj's flashy style is good for films, perhaps -- not for cricket. He never inspires confidence; never looks like he is going to stay at the crease for any length.
And for heaven's sake let's not evaluate people on the basis of 1 century or one half century someone scores.
Let's evaluate people based on consistency of performance.
Amazing!!!! Australia bundled out for 235 shows that they are still susceptible to good spin bowling. What can be said about Kumble, He's just proving his critics wrong time and again. A truly great champion. Cheers to the Indian team for coming back strongly after the Bangalore Debacle.
