13 Vs 11
by Jagadeesh N on Oct 11, 2004 04:49 PM  | Hide replies

First I would like to congragulate Austrilians for their thumping victory with help of 2 middle men.

As the stats shows the pathetic display by Indian batsmen in both the innings, but 2-3 crucial decisions went against India, which has helped australia for thumping win.

India might have lost the game but not in this fashion had the decision has been right. It happen only for India, whether we play home or abroad. Whenever a wrong decision is made most of the times it favours Australia. Even though they play in a professional manner i don't know when these things will be questioned by authorities.

I thinks it high time some action is taken against the Umpires for lowering the spirit of the game.
Why not penalize the umpires for their poor decisions and instead give the right for a batsman or bowler to validate his appeal by the third umpire. Cant such a simple rule be implemented to save the spirit of the game. It is a shame on us we have been accepting such a kind of humiliation ever since the decision of Steve bucknor against Tendulkar in the worldcup.
India can certainly do better fighting back, and coming out with its extra-energy. Lets not discourage our team...These are just bad times and lets cheer them up....We Love You INDIA. WIN WIN & WIN? JAI HIND

I think the so called starts in the team should concentrate more on CRICKET and not on getting ads in for from SURF EXCEL-TVS-GLUCO biscuits.....etc etc the list goes on and on....how do they find the time to practice after ALL THOSE ADVERTS!

Comments on first test between India-Australia
by N.S.RAJAN on Oct 11, 2004 03:18 PM

s i had the pleasure of watching the great test match!!!!!!!!!!!!!!our top orders poor form, inability of our top bowlers to polish of the the next five wkts after first five wkts have been taken for less than one fifty runs, our lucky captains refusal to come out of his shell when his luck goes out and does not place the correct fielders at the correct places or refusing the listen to coach's advice(if at all they are able to analyse the computer for the weakness of australian batsmen and plan our strategy, and above all the prejudice of steve buckner for indian stars (as he thinks himself to be a greater star than all these stars put together) and the new theatrical umpire bill bowden -- all these make a great match. the icing is shewag being fined for talking to umpire (!!) for what is termed as bringing the game to disrepute!!!! and our docile acceptance of that ever prejudicial (for blacks) match refree ranjan madugule.is there no way of punishing erring umpires like fining their match fee depending on the wrong outs they dole out.

It is expected.
Indian Team is a pack of non-performers.
All the top line batsmen are out of form.
Not happening with any other team.
Bring in energetic, younger players who want to
peform. Otherwise, India stand no chance of a
recovery with the presen top line batsman.
Zaheer Khan is not getting a wicket since long.
Agarkar should be brought in.

Agarkar is most inconsistent player in the INDIAN TEAM and has yet to win a match. zaheer is world class and is little slow as recovering from hamstring. if you want to change its better to go for Ashish Nehra/ bhandari, these are two are much better bowlers than agarkar, and ok agarkar bats better but that only once in a year.why invest in such a loose canon.

Its time to change the bating order
by Kans on Oct 11, 2004 12:35 PM  | Hide replies

It appears that opening the innings with PArthiv and Pathan with Harbajan coming in one down will make the team's batting looks stonger. In any case their performance will not be inferior to the one we were made to experience in the two innings of the 1st test.

If I were the team selector. I would drop ganguly, sehwag, yuvraj and lakshman. Instead kaif, hemang badani, tendulkar to be brought in. Its a long time since sehwag has made runs, the selectors need to thorow him off the team.

Indian Test and ODI Team
by Rajesh on Oct 11, 2004 11:11 AM  | Hide replies

Now, It is the high time for the Indian Selectors to Drop some players from the Test as well as ODI squad. VVS Laxman, Akash Chopra, Yuvaraj Singh should be rested at lest for the next 2 Tests against Australia. Players off the mind that they are secured even though they are not playing.

The Ist Test defeat, they can only blame the Top order Batsmen's performance. The top order especially the captain through the wicket away. And more over he is not very confident in playing against the short pitched deliveries from the Aussis Pace bowlers.

The ideal team for the next Test and forth coming ODIs, in my view, are:

1. P. Patel (Wk)
2. V. Shevag
3. M. Kaif
4. S. Tendulkar
5. R. Dravid
6. S. Sriram
7. S. Ganguly
8. I Patham
9. H. Singh
10. M. Karthik
11. Z. Khan

12. A. Kumble
13. H. Badani

ODI Team

1. V. Shevag
2. S. Ganguly
3. M. Kaif
4. S. Tendulkar
5. R. Dravid
6. Y. SIngh
7. S. Dhoni (Wk) / D. Karthik
8. I. Pathan
9. A. Agarkar
10. H. Singh
11. Z. Khan

12. A. Kumble
13. H. Badani
14. D. Mongia
15. L. Balaji

Surely there must be a clause that permits the BCCI to sack the players for non performance. This should be immediately done if things are to be improved.

Not Guts, just shameless capitulation
by Jolz on Oct 11, 2004 05:39 AM

With no chance of ever surviving the day, much less surpassing the Australian total, the dying spurt by the tailenders is not as commendable as the writer puts it. The lower-order innings should never be compared with the responsibility, pressure and degree of intensity of the Australian bowlers that the top order has to face.

Irfan should think about this
by Skanda on Oct 11, 2004 05:25 AM

Hi everyone,
This is what I think about Irfan Pathans batting heriocs during the first test match.
His good showing with the bat in this test puts a threat on his career as the opening bowler of the Indian Cricket team. Looking at the trend in Indian cricket, the time is not very far when we will see IP playing the first ball in the innings. And also looking further I understand that if he fails , then he will be sacked from this team, and labled as a batting failure.
Look out Irfan....................

plz dont call it Aus crushed India
by prashant verma on Oct 11, 2004 04:06 AM

Hi,

Its very trouble some for me to digest this title. Its not at all the Aussies its the bad decisions of the umpires that led to India's defeat. The BCCI is just a rotten stuff that cant support its cricketers. Who the hell is ICCI to punish Sehwag for resenting that fellow's totally wrong decision. ICCI has crossed the line this time and its high time BCCI takes some action. 5 LBW in a inning against India is too much and why none against Aussies top order.

Regards,
Prashant
