I dont agree with this
by Indian on Oct 10, 2004 08:54 PM

Generally in cricket bowlers needs to put more effort then batsmen . so i dont see why bowler should not show his unhappiness but batsmen normally enjoy cricket that happens in all the forms of cricket.

So bowlers should be given more liberty then batsmen
THanks

If the technology can't be given to the aid of the umpires even it shud not be used for the public and masses watching the game.. or else it will keep giving people hard feelings abt the umpires..

also in this test not one but 9 decisions went against them.. those decisions had they been given correctly could have saved the test for India.

Basically either you want to hide the truth from fans or give the right decision. I don't think first option is anyway substitute for the second one. Let those DUMB and biased umpires know the truth and let them feel shame in front of millions.

Addendum to Ashish's views
by Gautam Kini on Oct 10, 2004 08:45 PM

I am an ardent cricket fan, not just because I belong to the Sub Continent where the game is a part of everyday life, but because the entire philosophy of the "gentleman's game" fits in so much with everyday life.Without going too deep into all that, I agree with Ashish's point on singular mistreatment to Sehwag. But I think, there is a larger picture to that - It is plainly the white skin vs. the non-white skin.I am not one of those people who wants to make issues out of small things, but the statistics in the last 4-5 years of dissent decisions overwhelmingly suggests a rather dangerous trend of the white skin being spared the rod and the subcontinent players along with the West Indian players being meted out some pretty rought treatment. The Aussie team should be the first to be reprimanded. They are undisputed champions alright, but champions too have to be given the same yardstick treatment as other treams. Whether it is McGrath screaming an appeal, abusing a batsmen or glaring at the umpire, the match referees conveniently looks the other way. Even the captain should be checked as he not only does not control, but is a party to sledging - Ponting, Hayden, Gilchrist. allof them
