Great work Australia
by Mohan Kasibhatla on Oct 08, 2004 08:30 AM

Well unlike most instances where India is blamed for its terrible performance, this was more of a superlative performance from Australia. Australia had their share of chances, but then thats part of the game. A super innings from Gilchrist only added fuel to the fire which Clarke and Katich lit up on the first day. McGrath, Kasporiwcz and Warne just augmented Indian misery with dream balls to get rid of Dravid, Ganguly and Laxman. If at all, only Sehwag can be held responsible for his dismissal. The stage is setup for a exciting series.

Indian performance
by Thigu on Oct 08, 2004 06:42 AM

Venomless bowling on first day barring Kumble and spineless batting display by the Indians saw yet again on the verge of losing this test.I wonder what happened to this bunch of cricketers.
why these people still tick on to non performers like shewag and yuvraj?bring in talented youngsters, its ultimate shame that India cant produce 11 quality players whereas small countries like Srilanka has very good bowlers and batsmen.Indians will never earn goodwillif they continue to play like this.

When you are assured of Rs 60 lakhs per annum as per

Let them learn
by Krishi on Oct 08, 2004 06:07 AM

we say we learn from our mistakes but when our Indian team is concerned they think they have not done any mistakes.Thats the reason they are not able to shine anywhere.Lets make them to understand their mistakes.
Agresssive should be shown in the match and not on the individuals.Hope they atleast realise their mistakes in this test,so that they can try making it in the forth coming matches otherwise Indian team would be the same.

indians --lost the plot
by arif mohd on Oct 08, 2004 03:50 AM

the indian cricketers are still in holiday mood!since they played very well over the last year, they have taken thier place in the team for granted for the next 5 years!!!!!!!!!..how does one explain persisting with yuvraj singh when at the moment he cant bat to save his life, forget about scoring double figures!!!!zaheer khan is still a way short of his best..he needs to get more ranji games under his belt..why is mohammed kaif not given a chance ahead of yuvraj..anywways lets pray that we donot suffer an innings defeat at bangalore, which is written all over this test match!god save us from two months of torture against the aussies!

Get Real
by Ethan on Oct 08, 2004 02:35 AM

the media has supported the indian cricketers for a very long time. even in this case, the article says 'slow pitch that offers very little by way of assistance to the bowlers' when mentioning the struggle that the indians had to dismiss the Aussie batsmen. But the same does not apply to India when batting, as the pitch would not have favored them for batting. It is high time to get real and call a spade a spade instead of appluading mediocre performances and individual records. Individual records is for the individual, not for the country. Applaud feats which bring victory to the team as a whole.

What has happened to these people?
by cheez_m on Oct 07, 2004 10:59 PM

When did the last time Dravid played good and made some good runs? Probably before he got married I guess. Home or abroad this team has started to suck. The players should be sent to home circuit to play in Ranji's and then claim their positions.

Point to prove : Indian batsmen can bat against best bowling attack
by venkatesh on Oct 07, 2004 10:21 PM

Today's indian innings illustrate how important opening partnership is. In Australia, Indians batted out first 15 to 20 overs without losing wickets. On indian pitches much more was expected.

But losing 2 quick wickets in first three overs was a shock. This makes me wonder whether indians really batted well on Australian wickets or is it because of weak bowling attack without Mcgrath/Warne indian batting looked strong!

Indians batting has a point to prove that they can bat well against best bowling attacks in the world. I sincelerly believe and hope they can do it.

LOT TO LEARN!
by Rahul.K.V on Oct 07, 2004 10:05 PM

It's not that indians didnt play well, they did..but,australian batsman were exceptional.Still, india do lack in wicket taking bowlers.Although, each and everyone in the team are known for their talent,no one is using it..For example..what we see in Mcgrath's superb bowling is not seen in the pace attack, other than pathan! When shane warne bowls, wickets can come at any time, but when kumble or harbhajan bowls,it takes a minimum of 30-50 balls to grab a wicket! why is this happening? if indians cant bat or bowl in their own pitch, what is the use of playing such a good game? Talking about umpiring..it's getting worse each day! Whoz paying the penalty?
