India Crawl but Gain Control
by Kricketer on Dec 01, 2004 05:44 AM

This Indian Team batting barring Sehwag (and possibly Sourav) is PATHETIC at best (Harbhajan's comment about SA being slow is Kettle Calling Tea/Pot Black). Indian Team has LOST IT due to making too much money too quick (there is just no hunger in most of them - imagine 20+ year olds all millionaires in life when most of India is fighting daily living).... It is a Sad Commentary on the Characters of all these Self Righteous Cricketers (Sachin, Dravid, Laxman and Cricketers of their ILK)....

My suggestion is to get rid of Sachin, Laxman for sure and replace them with Kaif and a good middle order bat (several deserving to name them all here) and start afresh....

Catch 22 Situation
by Rajesh on Dec 01, 2004 04:33 AM

If the indians had played an attacking game and a few wickets were lost in a hurry and then the tail had to somehow restore dignity - the commentators and the article writers would have said "What a miserable performance". Now that they show some patience and play as a test match unit the commentators say "Well miserable performance - No positive intent". Cricket is a hard game and you only get one chance ( well in test cricket TWO). I think its better if Indians play well and make sure that the test match is not lost rather than getting cursed at the end of the day for losing.

To Mr. Aasish Magotra.
by Harish on Dec 01, 2004 12:09 AM

Our Batsmen played slowly alright.

But I cannot accept the remarks you made on Karthik and Pathan. Are u saying these youngsters should have played more shots. No way. Just imagine if we lost more wickets and all out fo 350. The match is very well heading towards draw.

Your remark of "Senseless" is baseless. They played sensible. Our seniors played poorly though. We much give credit to SA for bowling wkt to wkt line.

Please be appreciative.

India vs South Africa - Day 3
by Ronobir on Nov 30, 2004 10:57 PM

The difference of the team in Australia and the one playing in India is Sunil Gavaskar.

Gavaskar was the greatest batsman of his generation, but played most of his innings saving a test, not trying to win one. Since he has become the batting consultant, our attacking batsmen (excluding Sehwag - who does not know how to play any other way!) have started playing contrary to their instincts.

Ganguly is the greatest captain India has ever had, including Pataudi. However his sudden departure from his natural aggressiveness (so different and refreshing from his predecessors) is baffling.

Hope he trusts his BENGAL TIGER killer instincts and gets back.

Regards

it is time tendulkar take some rest and concentrate in his hotel business, as it looks like he is more worried about his hotel and other business ventures,
cricket has taken a back seat.

Taufel has his revenge.
by spc on Nov 30, 2004 09:39 PM

A well-set Ganguly was wrongly given out with a very poor decision from a surprisingly vindictive Simon Taufel, who is otherwise rated as a very good umpire. Ganguly's dismissal ball was going down the leg side was missing the stumps by miles and Taufel normally doesn't give LBW decision unless he is 150% sure. As an umpire during the BCCI Platinum Jubilee match against Pakistan at Eden Gardens was a party to the match referee Clive Lloyds decision of banning Ganguly for two Test matches which was over ruled by Appeals Commissioner Tim Castle of New Zealand.

What Control?
by Aditya Khandeparkar on Nov 30, 2004 09:27 PM

I fail to understand what "control" has India gained over the second test today. If a lead of 54 runs with the loss of 6 wickets is gaining "control" God save India.

by anand on Nov 30, 2004 08:12 PM

i think the side which showed so much promise down under n the seires in pakistan is not to be seen here in there own hunting ground at home possibly they r not enjoying the game n that they have to win at home..n they cannt handle pressure as they r now a favorite team to win at home....
