suspend lloyd

Ganguly's suspension is a most unjust thing to happen and should be withdrawn. Seems if its not West Indian umpires, then its West Indian match referees who deliberately get under the skin of Indians.

In any high scoring match the alloted time limit is stretched and is often exceeded. The punishment for that, is usually getting docked a couple of overs or getting fined a part of the match fees.

In the one off match at the Eden there where other reasons too besides being a run-a-ball match - there was the dew forcing everyone to try to rub the ball dry, before every single delivery; there was the delay due to Salman Butt's cramps, medcal treatment and the arrival of a runner. And finally was the fact that our bowlers bowled 23 wides, which meant that Ganguly actualy had to sqeeze in 54 overs in the time alloted for 50!!!

So the decison was all totally wrong and reeks of I.C.C's prejudice against sub-continental countries.

All the more saddening

You have to agree that Indain cricket is going through rough patch. But banning a Test captain for 2 test matches is ridiculous. This was the time for Ganguly to get back to form & let his bat do the talking. Against a B level visiting side of South Africa it would have been a great platform for him to regain the lost glory.

But as it is said "When going gets tough, the tough gets going" & Ganguly is a tough guy,

Dont worry Dada we all R with U

I agree with the decision of ICC for suspending Ganguly in the next 2 matches. This will give Dravid a chance for captaincy and to prove himself. In recent past I have seen and noticed that Ganguly simply demotivates the other players in crisis situation and thus the crucial matches are lost.Instead a captain's duty is to take the moral high of his team in an adverse condition also which is not in Ganguly's nature. He is the first person to become nervous and frustrated when India is in a bad condition. He doesn't know how bowling changes should be made. In the last match against pakistan also when the second/third ball was taken due to color changes, he should have given the bowling to spinners like harbhajan and sehwag so that they could have gripped the ball better and some runs could have been saved. Instead he gave the bowling to medium pacers and when the ball was fully wet he gave it to harbhajan and tendulkar who could not grip the ball and which costed the match for india. Ganguly simply doesn't have the cricket sense required for a captain of such a prestigious team like India where cricket is everything for fans. I think Dravid should be given the job permanently.

Ganguly's manners
by v.Shankar on Nov 15, 2004 11:56 AM

Serves Ganguly right for the suspension. Can some one please teach him good manners? He has the arrogance to keep his cap on when accepting a felicitation from the Union Sports Minister. Even Tendulkar and Dravid had the courtesy to remove their cap while standing before the Minister. It is an honour to have Ganguly as Indan Cricket Captain but sadly he lacks in manners.

Idiotic Judgement

ICC should be suspended or rather dissolved for the Good of this Great Game!

World Cricket needs Gangulys not stupid ICC or even more idiotic Match Referees, who does'nt have enough grey matter in the proper place to adjust their decisions depending on the circumstances. Eden Gardens had almost unplayable conditions that night which the whole world saw barring the 'blind' Lloyd.

Gamguli's suspension

It is really an excellent action by ICC. He should have been suspended for more than a year for his action over Nagpur test drama which he has created.

Not Fair

This shows the genral attitude of the match refrees towards asian players. It was clear that the match was extended beyond the time, but had he taken in to account the time wasted by Salman Butt(atleast 1/2hour),adjusting the sight screen and ball change(7 times this was happened). He (gaguly) must have been appreciated for handling the situation wisely under such helpless condition and not suspended. This is a sheer injustice committed by a critical match refree. God Saves Cricket!
