Sachin launches ''Sourav's''

With so many interests, etc., obviously cricketers are not able to perform. Today's cricketers are just after money, oblivious of self-respect. Like politicians are thick-skinned, shameless, impervious to ridicule and lead an ostentatious lives, when majority of their countrymen are poor and cannot afford one square meal a day. These fortunate few should earn countrymen's goodwill by ploughing certain part of their earnings for charity. The only people who would patronise these swanky restaurants, are those with easy money and unaccounted wealth, viz. businessmen, bureaucrats and government servants. Which man, who has earned his money by the sweat of his brow, would like to blow his money just to see and/or eat at a restaurant owned by a cricketer. I do have respect for cricketers who perform on the field, set a deed with philanthrophic gestures and not have a banya attitude. CRICKETERS ARE PAID TO PERFORM AND SHOULD PERFORM. OTHERWISE, LIKE ANY PAID EMPLOYEE, THEY SHOULD GET THE BOOT. A cricketer of '70s/'80s has referred to cricketers of earlier era who faced hard times and therefore he was saving for future. With earnings in millions, cricketers lives are rosy today.
