Game should be won outside court?
by Leo Jamez on Nov 11, 2004 01:49 PM

I strongly disagree with the author's theory that the Aussies should've been made to play under stress from extreme climate that they aren't used to and fiercely patriotic Indian spectators in the crowd. Isn't he ashamed to suggest such 'unsportsmanlike' means to try to win a game?

A game should be played well and won.

INDIA BEATEN BY BAD PLANNING.
by M.B.KAMATH on Nov 11, 2004 07:51 AM

Why one should worry about the crowd support,or any such factor,if you have the ability, national pride & spirit and guts & self esteem. All others things are only excuses, for being beaten by a superior side.It is high time the cricket matches are banned for atleast 5 years to save us humiliation.

Good one

Good work Ashish, finally someone realises how badly BCCI goofed up. I would go even further and schedule the series in March and April, just to make sure we don't get any offseason rains and get the temp's at 42 consistently.

no point in contemplating
by Chirag Champaklal on Nov 11, 2004 05:25 AM

Ashish,

I understand your concern here and also the fact that had Australia been instead of us, they would have done exactly the same. But the point is that we lost and lost badly. I am not saying that we are a pathetic team or anything. I always like to stand by our players.

Let's forget about this and concentrate on beating Australia in Australia and snatch back the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Go INDIAN CRICKET TEAM.....!!

I disagree the whole stuff Mr. Ashish has written here. A good team is the one which plays good and wins in all conditions. Make the opponents play where the home team has advantage is cheating. Already everyone is fuming about the spinning pitch "made" for last test. Why don't you suggest BCCI to organise matches with only Bangladesh for the next 5 years, So that India can keep it's success rate. Sports is all about playing hard, fair and square not making apponents fight with things other than 11 member team.

Bad planning

I dont understand what Mr. X is trying to drive home. If there is any plan, you can call it bad or good. BCCI was more busy fighting elections, Dalmia, Pawar, Power etc., and not the least bothered about India, Test matches etc. Probably BCCI did not even know that it was Australia visiting India. No wonder, India has put up such a bad show, successfully.

Excellent Article
by Ajay Sharma on Nov 10, 2004 06:56 PM

It was a superb article. Why can't we give our team the home advantage ? On bouncy pitches (like Nagpur) this series could well have been 4 - 0 to the advantage to the Aussies. When we went to NZ in 2002 all we got were super-fast pitches that the Indian team could not put bat to ball. How did we re-pay them when they came to India, we gave them dead track that did not spin , the result a morale boosting drawn series for N.Z. Again why give the Aussies Bangalore & Nagpur ? The warm-up match should have been at Nagpur , so that even during the warm-up match the Aussies did not get a chance to play quality spin. However for the test matches , atleast 3 out of 4 should have been at turning tracks and 1 on a dead-track. Also the first match should have been in Chennai to sap the Aussie at the very start. The fact is that to beat Aus you need home advantage. For the rest of the world teams, pls prepare fast tracks, for domestic cricket pls make super fast tracks, but for Aus pls don't give Nagpur-type pitches.

comments on the india australia series

To whom so ever it may concern

First of all we should avoid our cricket players from
beinge put up on advertisements. As we do this their intention is to earn money as much as they can, else
where can they be anu hunger left in them to play for
the country. Its a shame to compare indians cricket
players to that of Australians we are no where near to them compared to the agression shone by them on and of the field.

india beaten by loss of wits and determination and not planning
by varun dhyani on Nov 10, 2004 06:10 PM

Hi Asish,
I read your article 'india beaten by planning'.I was literally amazed by your suggestion that venues should be at Calcutta and other places because
a)There is too much crowd
b)There is too much noise
c)there is too much heat and humidity.
Come on yaar,we are discussing cricket!! I would choose to loose the match and accept opponents supremecy rather than subject them to above mentioned just because I can do it.
I know working like critics you have to say sometime and thats what pays you money.
But mind well that people dont get critic on your article.Else you may end up losing your job!!
Cheers
