may i know y ponting is so mad abt the mumbai pitch?how did Indians bat[sachin&laxman]?aren't indians humans too[or were they gods while batting?]its really funny how ponting is so angry abt the pitch!im very surprised.if one just takes a look at the way aussies got out, they were all out coz they went for extravagent strokes which were absolutely not needed.First correct urself, then blame others mister ponting!
It is a sardonic irony that Ponting and his co-aussies were blaming the mumbai pitch for their debacle. Had the aussies won the mumbai test chasing the Indian paltry score, then the australian press would have gone all the way singing the fulsome praises about the australian team as the most invincible side. For that matter, if shane warne had played the mumbai test, he would have equally harnessed the benefits from the spiteful mumbai pitch. Did the aussies so easily forget the advantage they had from the Nagpur pitch which suited much to your liking, where the hosts did not enjoy the home side advantage. It is best in the interest of the cricket game now that the Western media stops showing their callous and cynical attitude toward the Asian teams.
hmmm, the comments by mr.ponting n co were not exactly sporting, one should say. if one may point out, this was exactly the team that had triumphed on "green tops n dustbowls" as quoted by its own media, after winning the series. Maybe what hurt so much was that they managed just under 100, something the aussies have never been subjected to since they hae taken over world cricket. and i don't think they were lookin too worried when they went bac into the pavilion after clarke's incredible spell, with just a target of 107. I'd say they were looking rather smug about it. so, no use blaming the pitch,Mr.punter, cos the kings of world cricket should do better than make 93 on whatever kind of a surface u get. period.
If there would not have been rain in Chennai the result would have been 2-2. Dravid should tell this in his speech as captain. It is called the indomitable sprit...
I wholeheartedly agree with Ponting and despite being an avid Indian cricket fan and supporter, I think the pitch at wankhede and the "morale boosting" win of the Indians, was nothing but a farce. That senior ex-players like Polly Umrigar & his associates have thought it fit to prepare such a minefield with an objective of "restoring" the "Indian pride", is in itself a commentary on the dismal level of self-belief and self confidence we have in our team. Preparing such atrocious pitches is not going to serve the purpose of Indian cricket in the long run. The career of the overnight "genius" Narendra Hirwani, is a case in point. If our Indian players seriously feel that they have outplayed the Aussies in this last test and choose to revel in their "outstanding" performance at Wankhede, it would be nothing but unfortunate. One thing is certain, this Indian team is nowhere near this Aussie outfit when it comes to playing cricket. And I for one very strongly feel, that the last test was definitely not cricket.
Ponting should come up with a better wicket for a loss..... I mean the Indian side batted against the best bowling attack in the world on the same pitch.
Your team was definitely a better team during this tour....But you need to be sporting and accept the fact that your players are not accomplished to bat on any surface. Indian did well and they won the match at Mumbai....Indian would have definitely won the match at Chennai too....If the rain hadn't interrupted the match....and you wouldn't have been able to break the record of winning the series.....So thank god and your stars.....Instead of crying about the spilled milk......
You have good team and one of the best players in the world but your team is not unbeatable....... Please don't keep making such silly remarks and loose your team's and your respect by making silly statements....... All the best for the upcoming one day matches....Keep up your fighting attitude.
