its a wrong decision to push yuvaraj yo the opening position. he is very effective down the order and now he is out of team for no reason. ofcourse all the indian batsmen have performed poorly in the series then why yuvaraj in particular is fired. my suggestion is change the opening stand and give it back to sachin as he is present now. you cant find any better player than him against the new ball.

Poor Wright !
by satya on Nov 02, 2004 12:20 PM

To read about how coach John Wright feels at the moment having lost the test series is a pity. Total mismanagement, corruption, favouritism, lack of a proper selection committee have all gone into the present state of our cricket. The cancer has grown well beyond the players.

People like Kiran More, who themselves have been test discards sit in the selection committee and assess others, which in itself is a joke. If you are yourself a discard, how good can your selection be ?
On the other hand, people foreign to cricket run the whole show. Has Dalmiya eer held a bat in his hand ? For that matter, can he even tell the difference between a hockey stick and a cricket bat ? All he knows is nhow to make money. And people like these sit at the helm and control the whole show, you will get none better than this.

We need to learn from other cricket boards which are made and managed by people who have had excellent contributions.

To remove the filth and then worry about other things should be the priority. Until then, we can expect only series losses amidst flukes like Australia and Pakistan series.

Indian Team - Keep Politics off and Saurav
by Ram (Fremont) on Nov 02, 2004 12:19 PM

Let us fix base pay for all players. Anything more comes by performance - runs scored, 4s, 6s, catches and wickets.
Automatically, we will see performance!

We talk big on deciding class of players looking at âAverage"
Here is the "Average" story EYE OPENER!!!
A 5 ' feet tall fool had to cross a wild stream walking through! Very cleverly he measured depth of water near both banks of the stream; found them to be 4 feet and 5 feet. Then he calculated average depth as 4.5 (very correctly, our guy is clever, you see!!)
Then, being 5 feet tall, he thought it was safe to cross since average depth was only 4.5 feet.
Mid stream was over 12 feet deep and the guy got drowned while crossing!!

Moral of the story: ...

Let us keep 'Hoping against Hope'; We are good at that!
Some time earlier, I commented Ganguly is waste and selectors have to induct NEW BLOOD! Many made big 'Hue and Cry'
The most unfortunate mentality of us is to "Live in Past Glory"!
We will not try Dinesh Karthik,
We will side track Murali karthik in Chennai
Keep patting in the back any player - from out of south!
Like the Zaks and Lacks - will always keep getting one more chance!!

Wright is wrong in blaming injuries and the wicket for the series loss. The truth is India is damn scared of fast-bowling and fast bowlers. Unlike Australia, where the replacement players who come into the playing eleven when the regular player is injured, have performed well, we do not see the same in India's case.

The whole system of Indian cricket should be revamped at the domestic level. Thriving on spin pitches will not do India any good. The future lies in preparing only hard, bouncy and pacey wickets for all the domestic cricket matches.

Who cares what the team wants anymore ? The series is lost and a long-standing record against the Aussies has been shattered in the most emphatic manner possible. Both sides were plagued by injuries and the Aussies simply pulled together as a team much better than we did. Our top five batsmen's egos were too big for them to contemplate a change in approach once it came to light that the Aussies were intent on slowing things down - like moths to lamp one after the other committed batting suicide. Only thing to do is be philosphical about it: this Indian has taken us fans to some extraordinary highs and then down to some heartbreaking lows - life'e like that too, is it not ? I just hope they don't make John Wright the scapegoat for this series reverse. Good Luck to Team India at the Wankede. The eternal optimist in me still hopes our boys will show some character and if it takes a bunch of kids to do that then it's perfectly okay - it's not like our Seniors are showing the way here !!!

As it stands we have lost the series and it will not be surprising if australia wins the 4th. i was a bit aghast at Haydens statement that Indian players play for themselves which in the end has proved to be true. its unfortunate that for all this John Wright with all his good intentions will get the kick. I for one would sure love to hammer a few of those louts called selectors and the some of the bigwigs in BCCI.

take responsibility
by rajat bansal on Nov 01, 2004 11:04 PM

i think the seniours players should take responsibility here . sachin and dravid have to get runs here . laxman looks woefully out of touch.he needs to watch video clips of the last series he played against australia and may be take some leaf out of that.open with gambhir he is a very good player.
