i agree with Healy...
by Dr Rikin Gogri on Nov 08, 2004 04:58 PM

Ian Healy is absolutely right in mentioning that the aussies were clear favourites to win this contest against an injury prone, out of form India.Had this been immediately after the Pakistan tour, the things might have been different...

To resurrect the team, the following will work wonders: 1) A new duty-free car to Sachin preferably a BMW. 2) Another new restaurant for Sourav. 3) Make outgoing calls free for Shewags mom. 4) A tanker of Castrol oil for Dravid. 5) An English-Gujarathi dictionary with just one word wicketkeeper for Parthiv. 6) A matrimonial manual for Lakshman. Amby Valley bungalows to others in team. Must not sound too generous, so will stop.

It is alway better to have the experience, but no one is born experienced. unless given a chance u wont be experienced. I am far away fr mindia but still have passion for cricket and always wish india wins. but the way this guys the so callee men in blue are taking things lightly and playing with the sentiments of 100 crores or more indians.I think its a time for the selection board to c the performance of the palyer rather then their experience. When steve Waugh was going through a rough patch his position in the team was not secure and hence the aussies are world class. my point is when yuvraj, chopra. agarkar. patel can be replaced then y cannot laxman. he plays well once on a full moon. let the new guys come and lets give the news guys be given enough chances instead of giving to the old guys. after all we r 100 crores cant we find 12 men from 100 crores that from a cricket crazy nation like ours. lets find more tendulakers and more pathans.

I request that some revamping of selection is essential. It is not good that unavailable players are sitting along with other members of team. Soe hard decisions should be taken like giving rest to VVS,Parthiv,Agarkar,Kumble(one day),Zaheer.Rotate some other players. They should feel that their place is not granted always.Sachin should recover complete, time is up for Yuvi. Kaif should keep up, not much impressive performance. I am sure they will be tigers against SA.

Selection Committee should take some hard decisions on selection policy without succumbing to Captains pressure / demand.

Players are not taking their places in the team granted for. It is the Selection Committee which is granting players their places.

With FATEST pay cheques doled out by BCCI, players should be held responsible and MADE answerable for their performance.

The basic principles of management should be applied in managing Indian Cricket. Non performance should be severely dealt with as is being done in Private Business Enterprise.

this is a pieace from where our TEAM INDIA and its management body can take inspiration how to perform on and off the field, I want to say to Saurav that please dont gives excuses now, its high time, all the time he and his followers keep on saying that if in one match we peform badly peoples critice us, but he hasnt done anything cheerable for the huge cricket followers in this country since 3 or 4 months, plz dont satisfy ourselves by 4 or 5 wins , champions never do that, take inspiration from Aussies.

Indian Attitude
by B Raju on Nov 01, 2004 06:29 PM

In India the famous " Chalta Hai " attitude has been the enemy not only in cricket but in almost all the other fields. After two months from now , everything will be forgotten. The selectors will continue to select players of their choice not based on the performance. Every body seems to over stress on India's performance down under last year. What was so good about the series as far as India is concerned? The series was drawn 1 - 1. Aussies came from behind and drew. Considering the previous two series of 92 & 99 , it was better ; that Indians were not beaten in all the tests. But their performance in onedayers was pathetic. They beat Australia in one match. The other team was Zimbabwe and even against them , the Indians struggled in a couple of games. The fact is that in sports , India is way behind many countries. Kapil Dev & Sunny's crime is that under their captaincy , India won two major one day events in 1983 & 85 thereby raising the expectations and making cricket as the only lucrative game for PLAYERS , BOARD & SPONSORERS. As for the public , it is more of PRESSURE than PLEASURE whenever India plays - even against Kenya & Zimbabwe.
