All should back Murali
by Prathap on May 21, 2004 01:15 PM

I firmly believe that Murali is not a chucker.
If at all he was or is a chucker what the hell were the administrators doing all these years?
It's just the plot by Aussies to be ranked first to claim the world record for most number of wickets.

Keep politicos out- Murali's a chucker!
by Harry on May 21, 2004 12:02 PM

Why the hell are the politicos gettting involved in cricket.Don't they have other issues to worry about..why can't they just lay off..
As far as Murali goes i think the overwhelmimg majority is that he is a chucker..and please stop giving that genital bent-arm loose talk.If he has a bent arm then how come it does'nt bend when he bowls leg-spin...Poor Dion Ebrahim got banned for one test for saying the truth.I fully agree with the comment given by Bishen Bedi few years ago"If a person is blind and he cannot bowl, its not our fault, then how can u allow a person with a bent arm"

India backing Murali
by R. Sunder on May 21, 2004 10:17 AM  | Hide replies

Get off it! Why are politicians getting into the act. It's as plain as plain can be that Murali is a chucker. As usual, instead of cleaning up the rules and ensuring the purity of cricket, we are backing the wrong horse for all the wrong reasons. We might as well let everyone chuck from now on.
India should take the lead in ensuring that cheats like Murali are not allowed to continue - let's erase all his so-called "records" from the books. Let's arm umpires with more powers to call chuckers as chuckers instead of conducting stupid tests and then ignoring them, even when they have proved that a person is a chucking cheat.
We need more honest umpires like Emerson & Hair and people like Bedi to get cricket back on track

Sundar,
Even ICC cleared his bowling action except doosra.
I think, ICC is doing right for cricket. They r not doing silling things by road talks .
If u think tht politician entering in to this issue is wrong , first u have to slam australian prime minisiter . Not others .
If u don't understand the cricket politics clearly , don't talk like this.

Boneheaded Ambassador

What does Nirupam Sen know about cricket? This is what happens when someone who is totally disconnected with the game gets to comment on the intricacies and in this case controversies of the game. Does the Indian Government hold sway over what the BCCI decides? Isn't the BCCI an autonomous body? In what way is Murali the pride of India? Is he Indian? If he was, I would have stopped following Indian cricket ages ago out of shame.
In Sri Lanka this is an emotional issue, and our Ambasaddor decides to use this wedge issue to score diplomatic points. Mr. Dalmiya should immediately send out a letter asking Mr. Sen to keep out of affairs that do not fall in his domain. Sri Lanka is looking at this as a racism issue and thinks that the racist elements in the ICC do not want a colored person to hold the world record. I think that sort of thinking is far from the truth. Everytime I watch Murali chuck I cringe and just hope someone has the **lls to stand up and say he chucks.
But knowing Mr. Dalmiya, I suspect he will take up Mr. Sen's suggestion and do just that - support THE CHUCKER. Doesn't Mr. Dalmiya love to taunt at authority, even if he is wrong.

Thanks

Sunil
