Congratulations Murali! As always he is an impressive bowler. He always have something unexpected in store for the batsman. I feel he is the most impressive leggie I have seen in my life . And that surely is reflected in the feat he has achieved. He deserves a kudo and I wish him in lieu of all his fans and cricket lovers. He is remarkable, amazing and brilliant to watch.

Murli breaks world bowling record
by b ravi chandra on May 09, 2004 09:49 AM

Muttayya Muralitharan is worlds greatest bowler and inspite of the all the hurdles, he has kept the concentration on and is at the Zenith. He is a great team man, bats well and is exceptional fielder.I remember a fantastic catch taken by him diving near the rope of Azharuddin shot at Colombo criket stadium. An unbelievable effort ! A great player and
inspiration to many aspiring youngsters indeed.

Muralis Fete of 519 wkts
by c.v.viswanath on May 09, 2004 09:41 AM

My comments may look some unkind and crude to Murali, but I feel the Current Cricket Test itself is fake and a fiasco. This is a Club Class Team, with Test tumbling to a close on the 3rd day with players having minimal Standard. Firstly ICC should revoke such Test Schedules, as it is not good for International Cricket or the viewers. Also the Records created at such low ebb of Cricket Standards should not be added to Test Records - it is meaningless to elevate the achievements at such Cricket standards and compare achievement with those of Courtney Walsh or Shane Wearne. It is incomparable, unkind and ridiculous and not justifiable. Murali by no means is a small Bowler, he is incredible and of world accalaim, and it is all the more reason and pride in his achieving and breaking World Records at an equanamus challenging situation , rather than at such insipid cricket motions. It is demeaning Class bowlers like Walsh and Wearne. I personally feel Zimbabwe cricket should be demoted and they should pass tests before they are enrolled into International cricketing Arena.
This is good for Cricket competitiveness and Standards.

Thanks,

Murali's feat
by RamaMani on May 08, 2004 11:59 PM

Congrats to Murali on his setting the bowling record.
Honestly, whatever be the justifications,I feel the wickets taken by Murli with his Doosra must notbe taken into official account. These deliveries were illegal as the Law presently stands whatever the bio mechanical tests may reveal. The right thing for the bowler would be to desist from bowling the illegal ball. No amount of justifacation is valid.

Wow! A ''chucker'' becomes world record holder!!!
by Narendra on May 08, 2004 10:16 PM

That's great news! A chucker has become the highest wicket taker in Test cricket. That means that cricket cannot be called "gentleman's game" any longer. I think, no one called it a gentleman's game ever since Pakistan made its debut in Test cricket & now a chucker becomes the world record holder! Will wonders ever cease? I promise that if I ever beget a son, I will ensure that he becomes a chucker & not a bowler. Walsh, Warne, Kapil are all idiots! Why bowl when you can chuck?! My heartiest congratulations to Muralitharan for becoming the highest wicket taking chucker ... er.."bowler" in Test cricket. Congratulations are also in order for the ICC for allowing Murali to chuck his way to 521 wickets! Way to go, dear gentlemen at ICC!

Murali the chucker
by sudhir1515 on May 08, 2004 08:55 PM

A chucker can always be on the top, the ICC has gone blind & have not realised the chucking feat of Murali the chucker.
