Good suggestion
by Prakash Thombre on May 06, 2004 03:13 PM

Giving the money to the needy cricketer than giving it who dosent really need or that amount really dosent make any diffrence to them. I think This is a great thaught....I would like to suggest that cant it be taken a steap ahead? Like The names mentioned there...Gavaskar, Shashtri, Pataudi, or Patel or who ever who are well off and more stable...cant these guyes come forward and help out the co-cricketer with whome they had played for some time.... Or may be cant players like Sachin or Gangaly or Dravid also come forward to help the needy senior cricketers to whome they look at as roll models? Wont it make more sense for sachin to have 4 cars lined up in his parking than helping a needy cricketer with a couple of thousand rupees?
Itsa pity if these things need to be told to some body. Hope I am not too rude but these guyes need to wake up...In exchange may be the senior cricketers can spend their time on ground helping the new players. Giving then tips...or what ever...that way they can also feel better and yes it will be a added value to what forigner coach is doing....
Think about it

Nagesh gudihatti
pension plan
by Nagesh gudihatti on May 06, 2004 09:39 AM

Hello
The suggestion by Mr patel is highly recomendable. It makes a common sense to provide money to those who really need it rather than to all others....Paying Rs 5000 to cricketing rich like gavaskar, pataudi, kapil etc is of no use.

Kindly implement this very big hearted suggestion.

I am amazed at the generosity shown By Brijesh..wonderful...anyone who has a heart and has taken any pleasure out of watching any Indian team play should laud this Idea .

I just hope more affluent cricketers come forward and join this effort and make this happen

A wise suggestion by Brijesh Patel !
by Dr. Cajetan Coelho on May 04, 2004 03:22 PM

The BCCI could consider the suggestion given by Brijesh and get the opinion of the cricketers who may not need the benefit of the pension scheme. We appreciate the thoughtful suggestion made by our former great batsman Shri Brijesh Patel who used to be a great fielder and could hit the stumps from anywhere !

Help only needy players: Patel
by Sumit on May 04, 2004 02:39 PM

This is a very nice idea. Many test player does not need the specified pension. Instead some player need more than 5000 to live their life. There should be a provision for all the player , if they apply they will get min pension depending on their Income Tax returns. This way the benifits given by the board can be utilized in mouch better way.

Pension for needy players
by P.Vijay sagar on May 04, 2004 11:59 AM

Sir

Quodos to Patel, he is absolutely correct, pay players who are in need, imagine paying Rs 5000 to greats like sachin, Dravid or even Ganguly after say 8 to 10 years after they retire

Entirely agree with Brijesh Patel
by Shreedhar Kale on May 04, 2004 02:03 AM

I entirely agree with Mr .Patel in this matter. The first thing that came to my mind after having a look at the news was that people like gavaskar and shastri, who have a career after their cricketing days are over do not need finanacial assistance whatsoever. They would be more than happy to give away that right of theirs to help those who really need it! The needy cricketers would really be happy to get the money! The tricky part then would be the judgement of who is "needy and who is not!

Pension for needy. Sounds Good
by krishna Kishore on May 04, 2004 12:14 AM

Yes i totally agree with Patel's idea. In these days Rs.5000/- per month is no where sufficient and barely an amount for most of the test cricketers as they are affluent enough to contribute their share to their colleagues who really need financial support.
My sincere request to all affluent cricketers is to forgo their pension and divert it to needy cricketers.
