Declaration in bad taste

Why are we making it a big issue. It is undoubtedly sad that our dear Sachin missed the double century. But Alam's explanation itself is at fault. Had there been wickets taken after the declaration then no one would have raised this question. But is taking wickets completely in our hands? Let us not make a big issue out of this and break the unity that we have in the Indian team. Beaware of outsiders who wants to break our country and the team of our country.

As an avid cricket fan and more importantly sachin fan, I would've loved to see Sachin cruise to yet another double hundred. obviously, the coach and the captain had something else in mind... what's the big deal anyway? a player of sachin's class should have no problem notching up double-hundreds in future matches... i remember fully well, just how badly rahul dravid must've wanted his hundred at the SCG this yr inspite of the injury he sustained... things like these happen in cricket.. as for miandad's and intiquab aalam's comments, they should just shut gob and bother about their team... this is merely an incentive to fuel unnecessary tension and animosity within the indian team which fortunately is replete with harmony for the time-being. Its sad to note that a performance of this class, if it were to come from say a Rahul Dravid, would go unnoticed and be etched down in history as a decision taken in the interest of the team. Down to earth as he is, Dravid would've happily accepted the decision. I trust Sachin also belongs to that mould and won't take this too seriously.

declaration right decision
by sonal on Mar 30, 2004 06:32 PM

i think declaration was the right decision. Rahul Dravid did not take the decision alone. it was the entire team and Sachin Tendulkar was well aware when the innings were going to be declared. he should have just accelerated. By coming out in public and showing his disgust just shows what a small and petty person he is and how important indivudual records are to him knowing that centuries and double centuries come to him easily and to think of it he was the same person who said that centuries and douvble centuries dont matter to him its the teams victory that matters. It was only because he was frustrated that he didnt come out to field later on.
