Match Fixing
by amitava sarker on Mar 23, 2004 10:31 AM

I think the talk about match fixing is not only an insult to the players of both teams who are giving their best on the field, but also to the people of both countries who are following the games with such passion and bonhomie. Sections of the media who are trying to sell their columns by resorting to such cheap journalism are out of sync with the prevelant mood of the two nations. Perhaps, even though the press is free to write what it feels, I feel the general public is also free to decide whether it needs to pander to trash. It wouldn't be a bad idea for the public to boycott publications which carry such columns for narrow and blinkered pecuniary considerations.

Change in the hearts?
by Peace on Mar 23, 2004 04:57 AM

I still remember the world cup match between India and pakistan in SA, and how the large indian crowd booed the pakistan team during the award ceremony that even the presenter(richie benaud??) was denied a request for keeping calm. It looked like a patch of howling wolves. The match at lahore(even when pakistan was defeated) was a totally different scenario. Is there a change in the hearts? Will the pakistan team be treated in the same way as the indian is being treated in pakistan? Is the 9278 ad here in the USA where the pak and indian flags come together for the first time in TV history a start of a new era? Well, hope the hearts change and change for good. The long living enmity between Indian and Pakistan has caused nightmares to my homeland Kashmir. Hope this series turns the hearts and the fortunes of Kashmir and hope the Lord now forgives us by watching this effort. Hope our only fights are as healthy as a cricket match and nothing else....

Human relationship
by satishhd on Mar 23, 2004 02:55 AM

To here about the fact India Beat Pakistan in a Cricket match I great.

To here about the fact that Pakistanis r treating our players in the best way is even more good to here.

I would like to read more about these in the future.

I think it is great about the media that they are trying to portraying the good side of people in Pakistan.

This will help people try to understand the COMMON heart they possess, ie., to love each other Leaving the hatredness b/w the two Neighbours.

I would like to suggest that Players from Both the sides form a cOMMON TEAM & play against the REST OF THE WORLD.

This would even enhance the relations b/w the two countries

by Manoj Kumar on Mar 22, 2004 11:35 PM

It was a nice gesture on part of the Indian captain
to enjoy his stay in Lahore. It will improve the relationship between India and Pakistan if cricket
can help to bridge the gap.

why are they roaming with out security
by Niteesh on Mar 22, 2004 10:57 PM  | Hide replies

Who is responsible if anything happens to them when they roam around like this inPak. India is such a place where they can find everything.

Is it worthwhile to buy a chappal for 1000 rs when it actually costs not more than 300 rs and they are bargaining in Indian shops to make is 200Rs.

Is this not funny to hear and see about this.

Ha Ha... Yes pls. Why rs 1000 for a rs 300 chappal that they audaciously bargain for rs 200 in India! This is too much - i think i split a muscle laughing.

objection to the word decimate
by j hasan on Mar 22, 2004 09:41 PM

Lets enjoy the game and use proper language. The
word decimate as per the dic says `` Decimate should
not be used to mean ''''defeat utterly'''".
Its only a game and always we will win and also
loss. Treat it that way and hope if Pakistanis
come to our Country we will also give the same
respect to them as they are welcoming our brothers
and sisters.
