What is your problem. You guys have always been negative about India. I read your report on all 3 ODIS and see the same pattern. I also read readers openions about your articles. Why dont u shut up
Zaheer should be dropped for the next match. Why not include Bhandari? Also, why is Ganguly not giving Powar 10 overs even when Powar bowled well in the limited opportunity available?
I think, If Zaheer is out of touch there is no point in trying him again and expecting him to spearhead the indian attack. He is really not doing any good in this series. Instead India should try Amit Bhandari. The young man had done well when he was given a opportunity in Austrailia...
One more point, I wonder why Sourav did not cotinue with Ramesh Powar in Peshawar game when he was bollowing so well. Before conclduding that India lack a genuine bowling all-rounder we should try to exploit the talent we have in hand.
dear mr.wright, i agree with your comments that indian bowling department has to improve, and i have noticed in all the three matches that the bowlers have improved a lot and can take the challenge of winning both the next matches, but seriously, i think zaheer has to be replaced from the team, and amit bhandari should be brought back. zaheer has to come back to his form but at what cost. i am sure if you think twice and replace zaheer with bhandari, the team is complete and ready to fight back. in batting khaif has to concentrate, but he is doing preety good job on the field.
Since batting is Indias strength,Ganguly should adopt a flexible approach. In case an early wiickt falls,Dravid should bat at No 3.In case Tendulkar and Sehwag put up a good partnership,Ganguly should come down at 3,followed by Yuvaraj,Kaif,Laxman and Dravid. If India bat Second ,chasing a huge total,Powar can be sent as a pinch hitter at no. 3.Unless such flexible approach is adopted we may not be able to counter the good bowling line up of Pakistan.
Team balance is achieved by choice. What is Parthiv doing there when Rahul is keeping?Though our batting is studded and bowling is inexperienced we are always a bowler short expecting likes of Sachin,Yuvraj,Saurav and Viru to deliver.Won't happen especially in crunch times against stronger teams when 10 overs can go for 100..Wonder why Pawar was under utilised both in Pindi and Peshawar.Karthick also is never given a decent run though xceptionally talented and a gritty performer.
One fifty and a couple of thirties are not going to help any team's cause in such situations. Fine we lost four quick wickets , but we still had Dravid , Kaif who could have at least had the will to stay till 45th over along with the 'Prince' - Yuvraj : who has only impressed every one as each match progresses either in batting or bowling. Balaji's & Powar's hitting in the end would then have enabled us to reach at least 275- 280 runs.It also appears that Laxman has decided that he will score only against Australia. The defeat at Rawalpindi and Peshawar were only and only because of the above reasons. As told by one commentator , in all the three matches , the extras given by Pakistani bowlers was almost equal to a lower order batsman's score. Inspite of this the Indian batsmen could not set a competetive target or reach a score set. It is totally unfair to blame the bowlers who have done a commendable job in all the three matches. If you consider the runs given away , then bowlers from both the sides have been on par. At least let the Indian team sort out their batting for both the matches at Lahore.
With due respects to the selection team and think tank, the "good-batting-depth-with-4-bowlers" days are over. Now we have good bowlers to pick from. With the kind of form and experience of the first 5-6 batsmen, we should be more of relying on their batting "width" than keep padding them up with "depth". With men like Powar, Pathan and Balaji in the series now, our batting will still go to no. 8 or even 9. We are not doing any justice to the bowlers by making them share 1-1.5 slot out of 5 with part-timers. I dont see any reason why the team should be packed with 7 specialist batsmen!! All rounders are fine selling, but we need specialist bowlers. Suggest: Try Bhandari along with the 4 bowlers in next match. Bring Nehra back in the 5th match. For the test, there is a chance of Agarkar, Kumble and Harbhajan coming in. So we have an immidiate pool of 5 pacemen and 3-4 spinners. Surely we can go in with at least 5 bowlers. Anyway, I thought the bowlers did a far better job than the batsmen in the 3rd ODI.
I do not agree with Jhon Wright statement on the above subject The fault lies with coach & captain for not using the sixth sense properly. Use openers with left hand & right hand combination Use Yuvraj Singh or Kaif at #3 to rotate strike & keep the scorecard moving. Use five specialist bowlers Attack the ball while fielding & don't wait for the ball to come to you. Always put correct men in slips & out field as done by present NewZealand captain. Ask the bowlers to bowl round the wicket also Use of bouncers at batsman & not outside should be aimed for. Captain should lead from the front by example.
