WEll
I think the number of match they had played in life..
The coaching they have got. after that also Ganguly and laxman they have neither changed there techinque or never changed there footwork. well after playing so many matches, still they never had shown any sort of maturity or responsibiltes. Its sameful to have captain like that. if anyother person wud have got coaching and stuff like they r getting he wud have been at top. Well they shud learn from Rahul, Kaif yasser hamid.whor younger and show so much of interest in the game. instead of concentrating onchewing gum and style plz concentrate on game for which u have got this much money and fame.

I don't understand why guyz like these think a bit before they write some trash like this. Even after seeing repeated performances from saurav and laxman (the recent ODI series in australia to name one where laxman scored 3 centuries) just one failure and they start making immature comments

Change every tactic in te book!!!
by Swamyji Gokulji on Mar 23, 2004 07:41 AM

See here, this is what India should do to completely shatter Pakistan and blow them out of contention for any class of cricket!

Kick up Balaji to open the innings. Fit him with a kevlar costume and get him competitive life insurance. Bring back Maninder Singh to partner him. One down will be Sandeep Singh Bitta from the punjab, two down will be Shambhu Mitra McSundaram from the back alleys of cochin. Then you have Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Suarav Ganguly. Zaheer khan will come in next folowed by Parthiv Patel. Then Venky Persaud to return from retirement with special incentives suitable for specimens with broad shoulders and small heads. Sachin will be 12th man and will carry drinks. Bowling coach will be Javed Miandad and Special coach will be Arjuna Ranatunge. Can't you see?? Pakistan will be psychologically demoralized with the complete change and will bowl all over the place in shock!!!They will lose!! we will win!! Hurra for change in tactics!! Yay! for Innovative thinking!!! Let's do it boys! let's go! And oh, madippa to open the bowling with venky!!!

Pillar of Strength
by Faisal on Mar 22, 2004 07:13 PM

I am sure Indian Middle is pillar of strnght when it comes to cruch games. Yuvi and Kaif are the best middle order batsmen that are going in the game today. The best thing about these two is that one compliments the other. If Yuvraj is a brilliant stroke maker, Kaif is the one who has the patience and technique to steer india in times of crisis and big run chases. I am sure the performance the other day at Lahore would have proved this.

Our bowling is bar with Bangladesh.Don't expect miracle in this series.Only batting won't help to win the match.

Balaji as a pinch hitter
by S Milton Rajadurai on Mar 21, 2004 11:30 AM  | Hide replies

If we loose early wicket either Sachin or Sewag why dont we sent Balaji as a pinch hitter. Pl. consider this advice.
Thank you

India suffering in middle overs...
by L.Y.Rao. on Mar 21, 2004 11:11 AM  | Hide replies

The Truth is that Ganguly deserves to sacked as captain...
He can't bat for nuts, can't bowl for nuts and can't feild AT ALL...!
He cannot wring in bowling changes properly, his judgement is faulty...
Perhaps, only because Dalmia and he belong to the "very parochial Kolkatta culture",he seems to still be persisted with...!
Dravid is the right person to be named Captain...!

Excuse me, Mr.Rao, but I think it is YOU who should be banned from either watching or writing about cricket. Have you ever held a bat in junior league match, let alone captain the National Team against our biggest rivals? Do you know the amount of pressure being put on the Men in Blue. I don't think so. People like you only multiply the failiures of one man, overshadowing all the good he has done till now. In my view, Ganguly is India's best ever captain.

Hello Mr.rao,
Do u know anything about cricket. If u had played cricket at any level u would have known about the pressure that the captains will be having at crunch situations.Everyone is praising Saurav for his effort to bring Asish to bowl last overs in 1st match. It is saurav who supported up a excellent young guns like Yuvi, kaif,Irfan, balaji,Zaheer, harbhajan etc.So instead of giving ideas to replace him u just try see his records as a player and captain. He is the best captain that india ever produced(Even Kapil agreed it during the world cup).

bks
captaincy
by bks on Mar 23, 2004 11:14 PM

Please don't just compare the captaincy. Before that compare the teams each captain had at their own time. Say tendulkar's captaincy. Remember the players. Azhar used to throw his wicket, Dravid just scoring 3 runs in 20 balls on an average, kambli never had a good touch after 1996 world cup. This factors were always contributing to tendulkar's performance. And people say tendulkar's performance is bad in his own captaincy. Can anyone point out a victory in tendulkar's captaincy of that sort we had on sunday in lahore, when we had 100 for four and India managed to chase 300 with his batsmens at 7th position. Now you have Dravid who has, I don't know, undergone some evolution and truly speaking is the No1 in India if not in the world. You have now one bonus player(kaif/Yubraj) as jadeja could have taken only one position that time. About bowlers I should not say much. Now our bowling is much better than that time. So please don't compare the captaincy first, please compare the teams first. See the same world No1 captain steven wough, has to face defeat as his front line bowlers were not in the team. It is the team not the captain who wins.

Srinath
??
by Srinath on Mar 21, 2004 08:11 AM

Yes I agree with some of the things what Javagal Srinath has to say like Ganguly coming in at 3 , playing a 5th regular bowler etc... but his opinion of Powar is not correct. How can a bowler complete his quota of overs if the captain doesn't bowl him ?? mind you in the Peshawar ODI Powar bowled 4 pvers for 17 odd & he was taken out ??? are these bad returns ???
Powar has shown great promise & I guess he can be a very good bowling all rounder that we have been looking for all these years.( Rohan Gavaskar can compete with him for that spot )
4 REGULAR bowlers , 1 bowling all rounder & 4 batting all rounders can take care of the bowling attack easily.if they don't than we need to look around for changes but for now we should try this change..
