Ganguly's Dismissal
by Arpan on Mar 20, 2004 04:10 PM

Saurav Ganguly himself must have lost count of the number of times he has been dismissed caught by the w.k. or in the slip cordon not only in ODIs but also in Tests! & that is exactly how he lost his wicket in the 3rd ODI when the need of the hour was a big knock from him. He is not the only player to be dismissed in this manner; there are others as well but the most annoying aspect is that he loses his wicket in this fashion to harmless deliveries; deliveries that can very well be left for the w.k. to gather. Even Sachin was caught by the w.k. in the 3rd ODI but the ball that took his wicket was an absolute ripper & any top class batsman would have struggled to counter such a precarious delivery which had all the ingredients in it to be termed as an unplayable delivery!!

So strange that a player playing at the top level since last 8 years can't even iron out his flaws in that period! Aren't 8 years enough for someone to overcome ones' shortcomings? The irony is that Saurav plans to open a coaching academy! When he can't sort out his drawbacks in 8 years, one can very well foretell what would the standard of the coaching that will be imparted to the students of that academy be!

India will remain ever hopeful for delivering.
by R.K.Saha on Mar 20, 2004 11:24 AM

See, pakistan, who were shaky about their strength before the start of Indo-Pak tour. But they were real determined to give a bull fight to India. Their newcomers also are so balanced that they spring into action from shaky start in no time. It shows the intention of winning than delivering. But in Indian sides we are too complacent on our record. It will not always be our day. This also clears the lack of instinct of our BCCI to pick up the right team for the game. The national feelings and virtues are not given due consideration. Yes as usual Hum honge Kamyaab ek din.

IIIrd ODI

Again a POOR perfromance by India. Defenitly Indian Captian should think about his team. Should change VVS LAXMAN and Zahir and should bring H Badani and Bandari for the next matches. Even M'd Kaif doesn't deserve in the first 11 but he is saving some runs in the field. And also Ganguly should come down the order and more over he is not responsible in batting. He should promote Y Singh to NO 3 and Dravid @ No 4. That will cahnge the game and he can use either Pathan or Balaji as a Pinch Hitter. But He is looking for the treditional batting line up and paying the penalties. So Indians really want to improve. And Indian made a brellient performance with out Zahir in Aus. So he really want to think about the batting order and the team selection for the next 2 ODIs

Humiliating defeat again
by Thiagarajan on Mar 20, 2004 05:31 AM

It is well deserved victory for pakistan in 3rd one day game at Peshawar.India once again proved that it will be crushed in crunch situation. But for the brave efforts of balaji and yuvraj India was able to score nearer to 250.what happened to dravid kaif ganguly and laxman.these r all bunch of world class cricketers, but none performed well after the loss of tendulkar early.
If this is going to happen then we can very well wish India that " Hello Mr.Ganguly and co! lose in the remaining 2 one dayers(the toss as well) and all test matches and win PAKSITANI HEARTS.Ganguly remembers only PM'S 2nd message and not the 1st one ie., win not only games but pakistani hearts.
Jeet raho India!!!

These guys suck in ODIs. They can't improvise. Nor hit thro gaps. and aren't good runners bet wkts. All India needs a good keeper instad of Dravid. The reason he accepted to keep is other wise he would have been out of playing 11. His strike rate is pathetic. It's worst.

We have a great team - young blood, old expertise....but what we lack is the spirit to keep it going till the end!!!!! We play well but lose out on keeping it consistent.
I am with the team (and so are the millions across the country)..... give it to them guys!!!

Pakistan Victory

Well as I already written earlier, this game is won by Pakistan.Otherwise, will Ganguly explain why he gave bowling to Khan after 42/43 orver though his earlier spell had cost 6 runs per over. Why R.Power who had given just 19 runs in 4 overs was not at all given bowling? Why Ganguly himself did not bowl though his average was less that 5 runs per over.
Ganguly knows that he is going to win next game as per plan.
Every one has to feel good.

So you want every one to get out before completion of 50 overs? It was dravid who was sensible enough to keep his cool. Had ganguly kept cool and stayed for longer time the scoreboard would have looked different, but did he? Dravid helped in crucial partnerships so far in the series. World Cup 1999 anyone remember it? Even in recent matches he have played osme awesome innnings. His role is to keep wickets intact on one side so rest can go after bowling. Everyone has different role in a TEAM.

I have not seen LAxman's batting good enough to comment, but he is good enough. He is the one whose best comes out against a quality bowling. He just failed once. When he struck with three consecutive centuries in Australia, no one said he sucks! He cannot hit centuries every time. There are times when all the top guns will fail but we should not just criticize them for one or two poor performances.

Ganguly captain of Indian team
He is not good in bowling distribution
He should have continued Ramesh Powar
rather than bringing back Zaheer Khan
And there the full game slipped off from our hands

Though i am an indian and am proud to be one, i feel we still lack the final killing instinct required to win a match. This instinct, i feel is abundant in the pakistanis and thats the reason i have high regards for them and thats the same reason they WIN

It is not the killer instinct. It is sometime that luck run against you. In both the matches we lost we gave a tough fight. In the series so far when 300+ was joke, 244 should be kid's job for pakistani batsmen. But they required 74 or so runs partnerships for 7th wicket to win. Does this not show the killer instinct of the bowlers? Also, our bowler had different conditions to bowl with no assistance from pitch by the end of the play.
