tendulkar is cricket's kohinoor
by vaidy on Mar 20, 2004 05:33 PM

the master has shown us every now and then that he is the best in any conditions and he can face any bowling attack,as he has that ability to change according to the situation.it was a a pity that no other indian player rallied with him except dravid.its also hard to find the india media criticising sachin for his in ability to finish the match.what i say is cricket is a 11 man game and with indian team boasting about their much hyped batting line up its unfair to criticise a player who has won india so many matches singlehandedly.we do not understand rather the media and the critics do not understand that we r putting so much pressure on the genius.if sachin had born in any other country say australia he wouls hav received help from the media.so its time now to start notice that the little master or the modern day bradman is the best thing to happen to india and we should be proud of that and extend all support not criticise him.
lets make it a habit from today that we appreciate him not criticise him that he could not finish off the match.its a team game lets not forget it.
let us all wish india all the best for the series in pakisthan.

Dear Mr. Latif,
I do agree that Sachin Tendulkar is an excellent batsmen, but I disagree that he is 'Cricket`s Kohinoor'! An astonishing 8 out of 37 times his centuries have failed to win us matches. You
should instead look at Rahul Dravid who has consistently scored for us for the past so many years! Or instead look at VVS Laxman who has a technique second only to G.R.Vishwanath or Zaheer Abbas, who were such stalwarts of cricket in their era. When it mattered the most in the World Cup Finals
all Sachin made was 4,while Virender Sehwag made an excellent 84.Where was all the showering of praise that time? How many have actually praised Ricky Ponting for scoring a blistering 140? If this doesn't
stop soon,we will only have a Sachin Tendulkar Temple
in our country.Please people,stop this exaggeration !
We need to look at the other talent in our team like Laxman,Sehwag, or Yuvraj.Sachin is a great batsman but he will become the greatest barsman only when he gives winning more importance than making centuries.

Sanket ,
lemme tell you you know nothing about cricket !!
sachin's 8 centuries out of 37 ended up in India's loosing cause & you hate it fine but do you know Rahul Dravid has 8 centuries to his credit in the ODI's & not all of them were reasons for india winning those matches..Also VVS Laxman has just 5 centuries to his credit & allready 3 out of them have ended up in India loosing the match.
As far as Sachin's technique being compared to Zaheer Abbas & GR Vishwanath is concerned Sachin has almost got more centuries than both of them put together & in much trying situations than Zaheer & Vishy..remember when vishy played cricket we had the famous quartet of spin who won us test matches at will evn in bouncier conditions of England & West Indies so India won test mqatches more in that period than during Sachins time during which we had the worst overseas attack that India ever had.
It is only offlate that the bowling overseas has improved & hence we are seeing the results now.

Pls don't just comment for the heck of it.

U GOT TO BE JOKING... we lost those 8 matches becoz others didnot score..
and well interestingly, noone looks at his world record that india has won 29 times when he has made a century.. ( it is record.. second ganguly has only 22 centuries)
also, in pak match, he scored 141 while others struggled right from ganguly(15 from 38 balls) to dravid, yuvraj, kaif, laxman..
atleast we can keep our head high that we lost only by 12 runs and were not disgraced.. thanks sachin yet again.. keep hitting opposition and critics for six!
Go and read the scorebook again...as sachin said correctly..:)

Kohinoor.........
by Rajendra Bongale on Mar 19, 2004 02:46 PM

Kohinoor is the daimond. It shines whereever it goes.In dark , in light, in night. Its only one of its kind. But our Tendulkar is Kohinoor? Well on Australian and Kiwis fast track our Kohinoor fails.Only in India and Pakistan he shines.that too occassionaly.after 5/6 innings he shines. In third one dayer our Kohinoor did not look like even American daimond.Well one property of Kohinoor has the Tendulkar.like Kohinoor shines itself so also Tendulkar plays for his own personal records.

Well, can we disagree with what latif has said.
Any amount of columns, any amount of pages said about this little master will not be enough!!!

And the same ppl who sing praise whenever his bat does the talking go for his skin when he fails to perform in a game or two.

Thas shows that he is after all human!!!!!!
The way he went about his task which he has done countless times shows what a team player he is and his commitment to the game.

Well with 69 centuries in his bag we all hope and pray that he gets a CENTURY OF CENTURIES!!!!!!!!!!!!

After all

Yeh Dil Mange Moreeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!

well, heres a person who has posted a message about the description of kohinoor.well buddy it was for this kohinoor that the others had died for.If only sachin was born in any other country you would have realised his importance.I agree that may be there might have been times when he might have been a bit complacent but that doesnt in anyway takeaway the credit of him being a great sportsmen. He is great and he has done his bit only that there were no good bowlers to support his great batting and no other backup batsman who would compliment his innings.man.........he was only a child when he entered the arena and it is his passion for cricket that has made him to acquire the status he has today.so buddy think before u speak.iam not trying to offend u but making u understand the importance of greatness.pity on u that u say something against a person who has given his life to cricket.

How much did Sachin's PR team pay to Latif
by smajumde on Mar 18, 2004 06:50 AM  | Hide replies

This sort of statement drives me nuts. I was just wondering now Sav=chin has scored a century and all hell will break loose ; we would be again bombarded with Sachin bhanjana (we had a good reprive when the team was in Australia) - we will quickly forget how laughable the 'best world cricketr' tag Sachin has been attributed to .. he would score some more big against bangladesh and again the marketing machinery will be in action STOP THIS .... Yeah! Sachin is a very good player but look at other laxman, hayden, Gichrist, Inzy, Lara ... Viv Richards is a bit too much and so is our own Sunil Gavaskar for him. Stats does not mean anything - Anyday, VVS Laxman is a much classier player than Sachin.

Well my dear freind you need to brush up your cricketing senses !!!

Why doesn't hayden , inzy , gilchrist , laxman , lara etc.. have so many centuries in test crickets as Sachin ???
more over all these teams have had the greatest bowlers of all times whom they don't have to face for eg. inzy doesn't have to face wasim , waqar , saqlain , shoiab akhtar
lara doesn't have to face ambrose , walsh etc..

Tendulkar scores his runs facing all these guys & hence he is an icon.

As far as comparing Laxman to Sachin is concerned pls stop kidding & don't show your silly mindedness about cricket.

Sachin was in terrible form on the australia trip yet ended up scoring 350+ runs & 2 wickets while laxman being in a dream form has scored single figure knocks in the 2 ODI's that he has played.

I guess what will stand out in sachins careers is once he is retired people will try to remember the times when the maestro was out of form & they will be surprising themselves for they will find none.

This is truly the limit of stupidity, and please pardon my language. The moment Sachin hits a ton, the press comes up with flashy headlines like 'Cricket's Kohinoor'. The next innings will see him get a duck, and sure enough, a discussion forum will emerge, under the banner 'Is it time for Sachin's Retirement?'. Please, guys and gals behind this blashphemy, stop it! I mean, try being more realistic, and stop throwing such crap at us, merely for more clicks at your website. I'm not aiming at Rediff alone; this includes all websites, including those that got their name and fame by duping us readers. Rediff has earned its name for being a respectable source of up-to-date news. Please sustain this image and stop doing injustice to us and yourselves.

Sheer stupidityu cant disgrace Sachin by comparing with other palyersSachin is preeminent.. on what grounds you say rest of the players are goodlook at their records..tell me any match played by Laxman which helped India to win the game except for that magical 281if Inzy is a good batsman according to you then I think you need to know ABCD of cricket..Inzy, Hayden, Gilchrist, Lara all are simply hitters..If there is anyone whom we can compare with Sachin is our very own Rahul...Sachin is anytime, any moment delight to watch..when he is on the field its ecstasy to us and envy to bowlers. He is the best and Laxman and rest of the players cant even stand close to him.

Hi Srinath ,
i completely agree with you and commend the views of the smajumde. How dare this person say that how much money was paid by sachins PR to latif.boy..........this is ridiculous sachin is a player who doesnt have to have any begging done for his class or fame to be shown. The statistics might not matter but noth for nothing this man has not played for the country cricket has got a new definition due to him and also there is no single city where you wouldnt find admirers for him.I just cannot understand the mentality of this person.Buddy being great and maintaining it is not a job of an ordinary person its something that comes form within.sachin is was great,is great and will remain great.i dont say that laxman is a bad player but just that change ur mean mentality and stop fuming about the issue so much. The country forgets the deeds once a person is in trouble or bad form.i just pity this kind of mentality.
