Dropping of Pathan defies logic
by Meraj Ahmed on Mar 15, 2004 10:40 AM

Even after scoring 349 runs, it became so difficult for our bowlers to defend the score. Can anybody answer why Pathan is dropped? He is the one who took highest wicket against the world's no. one team i.e. Australia. And, yet he is dropped. Ravi Shastri has rightly written in his article that Pathan's exclusion defies logic. He is definitely our no. 2 bowler after Zaheer and should be an automatic choice. The third seamer either should be Balaji or Nehra. But then many things like this keep hanpening in Indian cricket which no one has an answer?

Turning point
by Ravindran on Mar 15, 2004 12:16 AM

Everybody says that the turning point of the game was either Kaifs Catch or Inzis dismissal. but, to me the real turing point was the Catch dropped by Yuvraj of Youhana very early in Pak innings. Had he taken that catch and normally he does take such catches, i dont think Pakistan would have scored even 275. Also what i feel that a big defeat from India would created lots of unpleasant scenes all over Pakistan and would have tested the scurity systems.

India's win
by david john andrews on Mar 14, 2004 10:57 PM

Well, I guess we won a humdinger. But the bowling was too wayward in the middle overs. The guys just have to
keep their nerves and hang in there, and should attack
the batsmen more. Sourav must get Powar and Pathan into the side-he was struggling with the 5th bowler option. Dravid crafted a great innings, and so did Inzy. Sehwag was in a murderous mood, but he ought to keep cool.Youhana played a blinder, but for me, the high point was Kaif's stunning super-reflexive catch, along with Nehra's final ball. Sourav, Sachin and Kaif played well. Yuvraj was a trifle unlucky, but he'll be okay.

The match that was
by Vineeth on Mar 14, 2004 03:56 PM

What a match!! The most thrilling matche that could have rendered several heartattacks. That was a perfect cricket match with all ingrediants for a up and down roller coaster. You just couldnt say who would win till the last ball. And the match was between the Ind & Pak played in Pak! A very rare match which reminds me of the Ind Vs Pak encounter at Dhaka which Ind won with Kanetkar managing a four of the last but 1 ball.

India pull off last-ball win

Consider this. Much touted Pakistani bowling attack. They give away more than 6 overs in extra deliveries and 40 plus runs as bonus.

Much touted Indian batting strength. They squander the advantage that Veeru, Ganguly, Kaif and Dravid gave, to score 25 runs in the final five overs.

Much flayed Indian bowling attack, gives away less than 7 runs in extras. Bowlers stick to line and length, giving not much away.

In the final analysis, Pakistani batsmen scored more runs than Indians did off the bat and yet end up losing, all because Sami got too fond of his hairstyle on the bigscreen display in the National Stadium, and Shoaib Akhthar wanted to be Superman.

Indian bowlers
by Krishnakumar on Mar 14, 2004 07:20 AM

Indian bowler Balaji deserves a special mention in the Indian media. this lad worked hard. He was second highest wicket taker for India in Australia one day series. Against Pakistan he has bowled better than other folks. He has a consistent line and length.
