Hey Tugga (Steve), how can you call a chucker as the "Bradman of bowlers"! It'z an insult to all the other bowlers playing for their respective countries! Murali chucks the ball and no doubt bowls illegal deliveries! The fact that he'z not reprimanded or banned by the ICC says that he's a friend of them! But never say he'a the Bradman of bowlers! He can never be. He'll continue to terrorise your team with his throws (till the ICC seriously does something)!

The Don on Murali
by Shekhar Gupta on Mar 11, 2004 09:03 PM

On Murali, Bradman himself said to Tom Thompson:"Murali, for me, shows perhaps the highest discipline of any spin bowler since the war. He holds all the guile of the trade, but something else too. His is the stuff of our greatest slow bowlers, and for me, Murali is one, like OReilly, Warne or Trumble; who are game-breakers. They detect and then imagine the batsmans weakness, perhaps in an over or two. What a weapon for any captain. To have the discipline to contain, and then, bamboozle!"

And so said The Don on his alleged chucking: "I found umpire Darrell Hairs calling of Murali [in Melbourne Test in 1995]so distasteful. It was technically impossible for Umpire Hair to call Murali from the bowlers end, even once! Why was his eye not on the foot-fall and crease? I believe Hairs action in one over took the development of world cricket back by ten years. For me, this was the worst example of umpiring that I have witnessed, and against everything the game stands for. Clearly Murali does not throw the ball."

Lets see between Murali and Warne who goes on to become Bradman and who the Hammond of bowling ... Murali seems to be closer to the Bradmanhood in bowling.

Oh, No!

Absolute nonsense. I respect Waugh as a player a lot. But
regarding his comments, some are good and some are not
good. How can he say something like this? Murali's action is
not legal, atleast not fair. The only thing that supports his
action is that it is a birth-defect and he does not chuck
intentionally like Lee or Akhtar. Banning Murali would be
tough as a result, but calling his Bradman of bowling is
unwarranted. First, I don't agree with Bradman being the
best. There can't be a single best batsman in this glorious
game being played for more than hundred. Average alone
can't be yardstick. The greatest player need not be the one
who won't get out. It's also about the manner in which he
scores them, influence of his batting, handling pressure,
technical soundness, carrying the team single-handedly,etc.
It is here Richards, Tendulkar, Sobers, Hutton, Barrington,
Hammond, Headley, etc. come into picture. All these have
unique qualities which cannot be said about others. So
Steve! please don't brand anyone no.1. That is not correct.
Similarly, Warne, Saqlain, Bedi, Chandra, Prasanna, Laker,
etc. are great too. Marshall, Akram, McGrath, Larwood,
Garner,Donald, etc. are second to none

Achilles' heel

Murali's weak spot is apparently his inability to intimidate asian players. Indians and Pakistanis do not lose as many wickets to him as the others. West Indies may join the ranks soon, with so many good players of spin. If you want to beat Murali, you should have been born an asian. You don't stand a chance otherwise

CHUCK-li-dharan
by Mudassir on Mar 11, 2004 05:12 PM

Therez no where in the World one can call him a clean bowler. Bowlers like him need to be banned from International cricket as they are playing the game with an undue advantage.

He chucks so blatantly that nobody can deny.

He is Mr.Chuck-li-dharan.

Murali cannot be compared with Sir Don Bradman
by dipankar on Mar 11, 2004 03:38 PM

To a some extent even i believe the saying of Steve.
Its a fact that murali is an extremely gifted bowler.
By gifted i mean his bent arm.......his bent arm has a lot to do with his spin bowling. So i believe that though Murli being one of the top sowlers of world cricket...cannot be compared with Sir Don Bradman and his excellence.

After loss against Aussies, India is back to normal with people still
hoping for a miracle. In a way it was good that we lost and people now
have come out of their craze for arguably most overrated, overpromoted and
overpaid team and are paying attention to real issue.

There is a war on in kashmir and india has lost 51soldiers and officers.
They are fighting at a height of 17000 ft. It is -5 to -30 C in inclement
weather there. The intruders, 80% of whom are pak army soldiers, are at
the top of mountain and our brave soldiers are actually climbing those
mountains with rope against the fire.

Some figures that may shock you:

An Indian air force flight leiutanant is paid Rs. 1200 flying allowance
per month and he is supposed to make 40 sorties in aging Migs. That is
about Rs. 25 per sortie after taxes. If he dies his family gets paid Rs.2
lakh. The man of the match in any World Cup team gets 3000 pounds, about
Rs. 2.1lakhs.

WHen flying over Kargil at 18000 ft he is just 1000 ft above intruders
armed with american stringer missiles and can easily be shot down.

Yet, they do it. Nachiketa who returned from Pakistan captivity will be
back for
