Sunil Gavaskar,of all people, should not be the one commenting on this indian team.Sure-they lose at finals a lot, but at least they GET TO THE FINAL unlike his team. All he ever did during captaincy was pick upper-class mumbai boys who didnt know shit about the game.i'm not making fun of mumbaikars, i myself am a mumbaikar. Ganguly gives everyone a chance-whether they're from chennai or hyderabad or wherever, whatever caste, whatever religion. Sure, Ganguly's young side might choke in the finals, but its the only indian team in history that actually cares about the country, the only team that puts their nation ahead of personal gains, the only team that actually represents.

India Underachievers ? Go Fish
by JOY on Mar 14, 2004 12:13 AM

Hey Guys ,
C'mon its always that the veterans have to pick out fault with the current genertion. When can you remember an Indian team going to Australia and made them struggle in their own home grounds. I remember kapil making a coming after India lost the World cup thats its not easy as if he was relieved that he is going to be india's cricketer of century.
But we still have to remember that India 1983 and pakistan -1992 did not play very well throughout the series and lucky to be champions. And luck does play a lot in this game whether we agree or not... I would say the current india team is one of the best Indian teams of all time but the problem is that we also have Australian best ever team, both at the same era . And right now except for Australia no other teams even come close to India .. So please stop whining give some credit Saurav and boys ... :)

All said and done....

All this number game dont impress me much.
Thing that counts for me is the attitude..and Indians have shown a lot of that in past couple of years. Most of it has paid dividends..a little bit has gone the other way too. But I guess this is the organic way to grow strong..and i believe we'll go that way. Numbers reduce the game to mere stats..surely the game is more than that.
Go..Go...India.

Inspite of unbound talents,we still r lacking confidence.pakistan had to go the distance of a six of GANGULY to reach INDIA.

under-acheivers, chokers.
by prasanna on Mar 10, 2004 07:08 PM

well, before i ramble on about "chokers"...

team, i believe u are the best team in the world, forget australia, man for man, we are better, but what they do have in loads are confidence, so please do whatever it takes to believe in yourselves, and yes please dont get psyched.

If they can score 360 in 50 overs, they arent gods! they are also mere human beings. so please u do get on n get that winning score.

as a sports writer had written

"aurtralia believe that they can score one more run than u can 7 that they can restrict u for one run less than their total"

Im bettin on india to win the tests. and the one-dayers.

"chokers" i think is pretty relevant. in fact, that was my first reaction when they lost lost the last rubber for the test series to go 1-1. chokers n underacheivers our team certainly is. U dont go thru 9 of 11 finals without a win if u arent that.

and I am not saying that the team is incompetent or something, quite the opposite in fact. I believe this indian team is the only one that can come close to australia in either form of the game, its another matter that they dont often believe that themselves in spite of, and sometimes because of, gangul
