No Tears

I am not shedding any tears over Murali's decision to skip the tour. He was a chucker, has been a chucker and seems inclined to continue to be a chucker

Hai,

we all know australians are the best chuckers in the world. They cant tolerate talented batsmen and bowlers coming from asian countries.Even their primeminister giving this type of very cheap comments is unforgiveable. The srilankans should avoid playing in Australia.More than this we ( India,Pak,S.L ) should be prepared to give the same treatment which we are receiving all these days in Australia. The Best Answer is to defeat Australia in Australia.

Bend it Like Murali
by Protyush Ghosh on Jun 15, 2004 03:10 PM

I am really sorry Mr. Muralitharan that cricket finds itself incapable of bending its rules as much as you do your arm, bowling your deliveries. Let us not forget Sir, that unorthox action is one matter and blatant breach of rules, something entirely different. If Cricket does not allow a bowler to bend his arm beyond a certain limit, you will have to learn to do the same unless of course you want to be remembered as a classical example to the "C" word.

Murali made the correct decision
by perinkulam1 on Jun 15, 2004 03:01 PM

When the Australian Prime Minister himself is prejudiced, when the Australian Media is prejudiced, when the Australian crickers are prejudiced (if in doubt, check what Lehman murmured about Sri Lankans) why should Murali favour the country with a visit. I can bet my life that the Australian Prime Minister would not have made any comments at all if Murali was an Australian.

Muralitharan to skip Oz tour

It is unfortunate that cricket laws have been too vague about the chucking issue. If one compares Mulri with Bedi or Venkat, one can't escape the conclusion that there is a huge 'straightening of arm' when Murli bowls. All the same, it is not proper to subject a cricketer of his calibre to such harassment. The law must be liberalised to include a large angle for a spin bowler, and a large enough angle for a fast bowler. In no case should a bowler have to undergo the trauma Murli is going through just now.

Perhaps, the Australian Prime Minister should retrace his statements and personally invite Murli to Australia. He is a cricket lover and I hope he does that in the interest of the game.

Lee also a chucker
by Muralidhar Rao on Jun 15, 2004 01:47 PM

Why should Murali care how the Prime Minister feels about his action? The OZ PM is right in calling Murali a chucker but Mr.Howard is a hypocrite. Even Brett Lee chucks but the Aussie PM as well as Bobby Simpson and others like Barry Jarman do not call Brett Lee a chucker openly in the media. They are all a bunch of hypocritical red necks. If Murali feels he has a straight forward action then why is he not going to Australia? Why should Murali care? Why should he feel insulted? In fact Murali has a blatant action which is laughable. After all Brett Lee also chucks and he will be playing for Australia. The only reason Murali has withdrawn is because he has strong suspicions that he will be called for illegal action when he bowls in Australia. Besides Muralitharan is afraid the Australian media and crowd may heckle him over his bowling action.

A world class bowler has to withdraw from a series because of some non-sense remarks made by the head of the country.Wow !! what a way to avoid a bowler whom you cannot face..
