Ganguly tactics.
by sasriniv on Jun 14, 2004 02:36 PM

I have always mentioned that keeping Akash Chopra out is not good for the team in the long run. You are shattering the combination that was considered to be best for so long time. Just think of previous tours where our team surrendered because of early loss of wickets. But contrary to others opinion about ganuly's tactics (politics) in making Yuv as opener, I still feel there is nothing wrong in trying hime out. Obviously after discussing openly with chopra always to keep his confidence up and not feeling that he was sacked. If Yuv works out fine, then India would march towards its No.1 team in the world with such attacking opening batsmen. As for Ganguly position in test team, he will anyway be thrown if he does not perform in the middle order consistently. He better knows that. Lets hope things turn out best for our country.

opening in one dayers
by karthik on Jun 14, 2004 01:34 PM

I think ganguly is again creating controversy regarding the openers slot in one dayers as he did few yrs ago.

Whts wrong in our opening pair especially Sachin. It was bcoz of him we managed to go to World cuo finals.

Both gave us excellent start and in the paki.. tour too they did a fair job.

I think he should shut his mouth and do the best he can.

ganguly wants yuvraj as opener
by jayaluckyme on Jun 14, 2004 11:27 AM

i have no objection whoever opens the innings.but definitely not ganguly.he always push the panic button.let him come later if he is required.he is so confused.every now and then he goes on contradicts his own statement.he should give lot of space and chioce to other players. if they are well adjusted in their they can contribute much more.--thank you --jaya

Yuvraj Vs. Sehwag
by TV Shanker on Jun 13, 2004 09:38 PM

Kind Attention: Mr. Saurav Gaunguly

I would like to address the issues that you have taken up in this article. First thing is opening with Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj is a class player, but he doesnot technically measure up to Sehwag, because of which he won't be successful in opening (in tests). Also the combination of Chopra and Sehwag was great in tests because of their different styles of batting. If Yuvraj comes in, both of them will go after the bowlers and end up not staying in the crease for a longer time. Chopra is a class player and needs some time. Remember how much time Rahul Dravid took after starting his career??
After a long time, the Indians felt that they had found the right opening combinatin. Why do you want to mess that up, man? Why don't you give Chopra one more chance?? Let's keep this way. Chopra will play till the end of this year irrespective of his performance. See if he's good enough. If he's not good....Replace him with Yuvraj.

Mr. Ganguly/Mr. Wright/Mr. Dalmiya.....PLEASE READ THIS.

Ganguly is not a perfect opener
by Indian on Jun 13, 2004 08:49 PM

Ganguly is great batsman as well as great opener. But if you have to choose from sehwag, sachin and saourav. Then defently sachin and sehwag are the best. There is no place for ganguly in opennig.

Tough decision!!!
by siddharth on Jun 13, 2004 08:42 PM

While Ganguly seems to be right with his decision, it doesn't come without a price. Akash Chopra will have have to sit out as a result. Not that Ganguly has to be blamed. It's just that in cricket, we perhaps have more talent than we can accommodate. This situation is akin to the one when Shane Warne and Stuart McGill both are available for the Australian team and one has to sit out; most likely it is McGill who is sacrificed in spite of being an outstanding performer in most of the games he played. Let's wish Yuvraj stands upto the challenge. If Sehwag and Yuvraj get going at the same time, the world will witness some of the finest and visually delightful batting in the history of test cricket.

Cricketing minds think-where Mr Ganguly fits in test test cricket
by kumar on Jun 13, 2004 08:42 PM

I feel Ganguly sometimes errs a lot compared to Dravid, seeing Dravid's performance in test cricket one should consider making him a captain, the point is
Ganguly is in test cricket just because he is the captain, let alone thinking about Yuvraj or some oneelse, he should think of himself.
