india's lacklustre performance in another final
by sundararajan on Aug 02, 2004 11:40 AM  | Hide replies

It is one of the worst shows by india in the finals. I agree the top order played a stupid innings but what was sachin doing till 40th over. He didn't want to take strike facing only 100 balls out of 240 balls (upto 40th over). It was a scratchy effort and at no stage he looked likely in the hunt. It was umpteenth case of personal success failing to convert into success for his team. He must be thinking that he would get the Man of the series, as he was one of the forerunners. Thank God, the honour rightly went to Jayasuriya. I shall be grateful if you pass this message to the President,BCCI and I would be very much happy if the contract system is scrapped before it takes off. I felt his unhappiness in his grim face during the presentation function. I think there is problem in the team management and even during Sachin's presence the run rate never touched 4/over and I doubt he was deliberately doing that. This was 10th loss in ODI finals since 2000, and they should remove complacency from their heavy heads and untold/unwanted pressure out of their minds. Then only they can bring back the glory. Please post this message to Mr. Dalmia.

Its good to see someone as young as Irfan speaking better than a lot of matured famous personalities of our country.

Pathan's magnificent form
by Riteek on Aug 01, 2004 11:57 AM

Irfan Pathan has really become the strength of this current Indian Team in such a little time since his entry into cricket. We all r really proud of the team, specially the young guns in the form of Pathan, Yuvraj, Kaif, and the consistent players like Rahul, Sachin and Saurav.India has now achieved a balance in the team with 7 batsmen and 4 bowlers with the help of many all-rounders. GO INDIA!!!!

Changing face of indian cricket
by kaleem on Jul 31, 2004 02:56 PM  | Hide replies

Iam really proud that our team has now become a true force to reckon with. The team is more organised, more challenging and has the best batting side spearheaded by Tendulkar and a bowling attack which can be bettered not only with constant practice but also a stronger attitude.
bowlers like Pathan, Zaheer and balaji are an asset to the team besides the experienced kumble and harbhajan. But the bowler who has really stolen many hearts is Pathan who at this tender age of 20 is as mature as kapil dev in his prime. I see another Kapil in the making. May Allah bless all our players as our team continues the good work. HATS off to Ganguly and his team.
