Why dragging Laxman?
by Irshad Ahmed on Jul 30, 2004 04:46 PM

Finally management of the team India has managed to declare Laxman fit for the final, but will it do for the team?,as Laxman is out of the match practice ,instead they can call the inform Hemang Badani who can also contribute with his slow bowling while in need.Allow laxman to recover fully as we need him badly in the forthcoming test series against Austrailia and South Africa as well with Champions trophy down under,so it is better for laxman and the team as well not to drag him in the final.

Hey,
we are in the finals and pakistan is out. More importantly we contribute to the end of pakistanis in the asia cup
half the cup is won and the other half is due with the thrashing of lankans with a "bonus point" on finals.
Laxman is back and so is the confidence of indians.
In short, team india rules

Selfish seniors!
by Muralidhar Rao on Jul 30, 2004 12:47 AM

This method of covering up for sick players does not bode well for Indian cricket. This only proves that the team management is protecting injured players in order to deny fitter youngsters an oppurtunity to prove their worth. The seniors are scared that if a young newcomer succeeds, their postion would be in jeopardy. If this selfish attitude persists among the seniors, India will never produce a viable bench strength. Just look at Australia. There is no chance for an injured player ever to be in the team. And they have a formidable bench, better than India. Afterall what is Laxman's contribution in one day matches, for him to be peristed with, inspite of injury?
