Team India and Success...
by Rupom(Bangladesh) on Jul 29, 2004 08:35 PM

Team India again in their usual success. I mean Ganguly is doing the best job by his captancy. Again he proved himself the best captain. Can you imagine the last 5 overs of Tuesday!! There's actually something in captancy..to whom the ball should be given, where the fielders would be...all that...Ganguly proved. I'm really very glad as an Indian supporter though I'm a Bangladeshi. I wish India's victory on Sunday.

go in with one spinner
by srinivas tanniru on Jul 29, 2004 05:32 PM

I guess India should go in with one spinner and three pacers, to give better balance to the team. Having two world class spinners in our team, both fit and raring to go, should become an advantage and must certainly not influence the composition of the team. Given the number of part-time spinners we have and taking into consideration their performance in this tournament, its pretty clear that we need a third seamer in the side. The problem with two seamers is that if one of them has a bad day, the captian will be left with no choice but to bring in the spinners before the 15 over mark, for which we may end up paying heavy price. Now, when we understand we have to play one spinner not two, there's again a problem picking the right one. Its pretty dificult to pick one of the two legends in Kumble and Harbajan. This is where we need application of mind. Since we are playing Sri Lanka, the team that has worlds best offspinner in Murli, we must assume that their batsman will definitely be comfortable playing offspin. So,the choice for the match against them should be Kumble. I wish the Indian think tank will follow this strategy and win the final.
