change of batting order.
by Anand Prakash on Aug 01, 2004 10:17 AM

Yes I agreed with the change of baating order of "Kaif" always there is pressure when he comes & it requires a partnership but till that moment most of the good wickets have gone no body is there for long stay with him so in so much of pressure it is very difficult to play for every one.so I think he should get a chance for one or two down to prove himself.

7 batesman
by Pankaj jhawar on Jul 29, 2004 01:39 PM

the reason behind our past sucess is that we had 7 batesman in the team. if laxman is not fit we should immediately call for a substitution. there are badani, dinesh mongia or gavaskar.
bith patel and rahuk are poor with gloves, so its no use to play him thses matches.this is not the lace to give experience.
for bowling we had many part time bowlers to complete 10, when sachin and sehwab bowling good and saurav and yuvraj can also bowl
slip fielding has been poor though.
best of luck to Dada's team

Become more energetic in fielding
by Sameer on Jul 29, 2004 12:47 PM

India is on a excellent move, only thing is that guys should be more energetic in fielding like Kaif and Yuvraj. Preventing running between the wickets by the rival is very much important. Player like Zaheer should not loose confident.

Indian seniors

Dear Sirs,

The difference is obvious. Poor Srilanka lost the match, otherwise they would have won it due to run rate by Jayasurya and India would have lost it due to poor run rate by Ganguly.

Regards.

Best Indian Team Ever Produced.
by Zakir on Jul 28, 2004 09:35 AM

Todays Indian team is one of the best Indian team we had.We have one of the best batting department among all teams, still our team is unable to deliver there best when needed.Players like Tendulkar,Ganguly,Laxman ,Sehwag are unable to defend when we have huge score. We know that these guys are capable of winning matches single handedly, its time guys to show what we can do single handedly.so wake up when ur chasing a huge score and play ur shots normally as u did before and let the other teams feel ur presence on the pitch. As far as our bowling department is concerned,Young players like Irfan and Balaji has sensibly handled there responsibilty. They need to keep themselves going,as they are doing a great job and need to take advise every now and then from there seniors in the team and out.And the players like zaheer and nehra who can make the spine of our bowling department are coming in and out due to injuries, which can disturb the balance of the team. Our medical team and physio need to take care of our players fitness.Fielding still needs to improve and the all players need to wrok a team and boost each others energy and skills.Hope our team win more matches and make us proud.Bye.

Change the Order
by Babu on Jul 28, 2004 02:26 AM  | Hide replies

We have good batting and bowling order.

I think tha the problem is in "Order".

In batting, We will change the "batting order" when lose the wikect in first 15 overs. We will give the chance to "Padhan" or "Kaif" when we lose first or second wicket in first 15 overs. The pressure will decrease if they hit as well.

In Bowling, We are not using "Yuraj" and "sewahg" as well. This All-rounders will break the big-Partnership.

In Fielding, this area we are going up and down.

I hope that we can decrease the pressure and get high score when changing the batting order in first 15 overs.

RE:Change the Order

What you said is absoolutely right. Change in the order is required when we loose the first one or two wickets within 15 overs. I think the best substitute at that time is Mohammed Kaif. He should be given a chance to prove himself by placing him one down on the order. I think Pathan side is better at number seven because he has to concentrate on his bowling, mixing in batting bowling will make him to loose him temprament.

Our skipper should have to believe in bowlers like Yuvraj and Sehway in time of emergency and when kumble is not delevering well. They are very important in breaking a big partnership.

In fielding Gangulu, Kumble and Sehwag have to do well otherwise rest of team is good in fielding.

Senior Players

Although India has got one of the best Batting Sides ...we have failed to win important matches and all the times our batting has let us down.... ( though in recent opast we have started winning few)

What is the problem with Sachin Tendulkar .. while chasing ?
We all know that he is undoubthly the best batsman with the best temperament .... But even he fails... i want to know hs average when india chases more than 280.... he has never scored a hundred when India has successfuully chased more than 300.... May be we all expect a lot from him and this adds the pressure.

Even ganguly who was a consistent match winner has never played a good knock in last few years...

Laxman is in and out of the side..

Dravid has only been the exception... Mr. Consistent

Kumble is never predectable one match he delivers and other he doesnt....

RE:Senior Players
by Srinath on Jul 28, 2004 09:34 AM
In the first place why do indians conceed 300+ runs in the finals or the crunch matches ?? just to check if the batting line up delivers or not, is it ?

why can't we bowl first & dismiss the opposition for @ 200 & then chase those runs in 42-45 overs ??
has this ever happened in a crunch game / finals in the last 3-4 years during which indian cricket has been at its peak ??
if it hasn't means we have to look at the combination of the 11 players that we are playing very carefully & see how it can be best managed.

Madhav
Viru & Indian team
by Madhav on Jul 27, 2004 11:11 AM

Expecting anthing over 20 from this guy is expecting just too much. The oppositions must drop the catches just like he drops. He said he can score a doble in a match and then in last 4 matches that incl Bangala desh & UAE he total has scored less than 50. In case of this guy it needs to be tweaked a bit.
India needs to have some very strict policy against non performers.after all this is not charit fund to enrich the selected group of people. I am wondering how come the people have not yet started the "WISH VIRU LUCK " kind of message boards. Media is giving just too much hype to these ver ordinary performers. And some people think we are second best after Aust. Come on guys you know you aren't even in top 5. Only good thing these guys are some what better than the recent past indian teams.
Unfortunately India has not found a player even of 1/2 of the caliber of Gavaskar/Kapil.

HARSHA RAJAN
Dean Jones' advice to India
by HARSHA RAJAN on Jul 27, 2004 07:16 AM

Totally concur with the assessment. Very neutral and extremely incisive. Has called a Spade a Spade. Yes, Balaji must be rested and get his act together before he can play again.Playing three left arm bowlers would be a great tactic since we have never done it before and this can fox opposition.Particularly with Jayasuriya in form, all left armers will prove an added benefit, since they can bring the ball into him and make it difficult to play his favourite slices and cuts. Sehwag has to be 'talked to' and told that he cannot assume his side as 'permanent'. He has to fire today. Comparisons with Tendulkar mean 'playing-in' like the Maestro did in the last two innings. He is key to India's start that is so important. Also, fielding has to be at 110% !! All the best, India. Believe in yourself and you can do it. Forget the last match !!!!!!It was an aberration.remember the way you took on the mighty Aussies and the great Pakkies in their backyard, in the not too distant past. Successes are as much a function of 'psyche' as physical form. So, go to it.
