its a foolish decision by Lloyd ,a great cricketer himself...!
by Rohan on Jan 30, 2004 10:42 AM

Its really unfair that our indians r fined .Does the ICC rule apply only 2 India! Aussies r the world champions, yes, but its just ridiculous that they have escaped unpunished even though they finished nearly 20mins late than the scheduled time.Y r the cricket rules being applied only on the indians.Sourav Ganguly must complain about this.Australia's Brad Williams does misbehave a lot on the filed ,y is he not punished 4 that?e looks is really a monkey on the field. Its really great that our players remain silent abt this. This shows how decent our players r, miles ahead in behaviour than the so called world champs...!
We hope our players do not get shakened by this one sided ICC approach.Goodluck Sachin,Sourav, Rahul and all opther members of the team! Continue ur wonderful job, get back winning the trophy!U have all our support.

Why is Australia not fined?
by Daya on Jan 24, 2004 06:49 AM

I am wondering why is Australia not being fined, specially when they finished their quota of overs almost 25 minutes late.

Tell me if I am wrong, but it seems match fines are a regular feature with the Indian team but never have I seen this regularity with Australian team/captain...? Why? Is this sometype of subtle racism?

Ridiculous

It seems that the West Indian duo of Lloyd and Bucknor have a game plan for themselves--to try their best to harass the Indian team! While Lloyd derives some strange pleasure in penalising every Man in Blue for using the wrong brand of toothpaste, Bucknor itches at absolutely every delivery to call it a wide. So now Lloyd goes on to slap a penatlty on Ganguly and his boys for a slow over rate, but of course the Aussies, who were 3 overs behind too, have to be spared since they've probably stashed his pockets with loads of green. And, if it wasn't for the same blighter who indicated that the video evidence was conclusive for slapping Dravid, somehow or the other the video capturing Bucknor imitating Dravid before he walked out to bat in the last match, isn't enough for the undeserving referee. Absolutely preposterous. Talk about players involved in match-fixing, how about investigating umpires and referees that have their own selfish agenda at hand? Bucknor denied Yuvraj to exchange his bat, on the basis that the bowler was ready to bowl. Hmm..what's to prevent a wild throw from one of the boys that knocks the livin' daylights out of the devil...it'd be worth the penalty!

Ridiculous and Unfair

This is ridiculous. Australia should have been docked 2 overs for bowling slow and instead India are fined!!! As it is India have to deal with that moron Bucknor who gives Aussies not out and calls good deliveries as wides. Is this ever going to change?

Clive Lloyd is crazy!!
by Kartik on Jan 23, 2004 11:21 PM

Does he know that Australia were 15 minutes late in bowling their overs? That translates to at least two overs knocked off when Australia should have batted!!!

This and the Dravid affair, have showed him to be totally pro-Australia. I don't know about any controversies in his previous matches as match referee, but this takes the cake!

Dravid, Tony Greig, etc..
by Dheeban on Jan 23, 2004 11:03 PM

Dravid tampering with the ball? give me a break. Ponting's response to that shows how poor his sporting behaviour was. So was the australian crowd that booed him. Someone should be nuts to tamper with the ball when he stands in the slip when the cameras always focus on you. Dravid is too wise to do that. Moreover, there was no need to tamper with the ball to make it work better at that point of the game against Zimbabwe. Indians were well in control of the game. Moreover, the pitch had moisture and it was cloudy and no way in the world would reverse have been possible then. The whole world must be crazy just like Clive Lloyd to fine Dravid. Apart from few whites, even the Bucknors and Lloyds are also against us.
A note on Tony Greig. He is known to be most notorious cricketer to have ever played the game. It was impossible to find a cricketer as unsporting and silly as Greig during his playing days. He is the worst commentator to have ever graced the box. He is so biased. His comments against the Indians is so disgusting and irritating to hear. He would be booed and find lot of banners devoted to him when he comes to India. He should know better than ever landing his feet in India

Ganguly is not wrong
by Dheeban on Jan 23, 2004 10:52 PM

I think Ganguly is well within his rights to use some time delaying tactics. Duckworth Lewis system is heavily is favour of the team batting second. Australia are poor chasers. Even when the rain stopped play, Indians held the edge as it is going to be tough to chase 300. With the rain delay, they reached a point where they needed 120 runs from 20 overs with 9 wicket in hand. It is ridiculous. The system made a mockery of the brilliant batting of Laxman and Yuvraj who built such a good innings over such a length of time. The whole australian team batted only the time for which they two batted. A washing out because of rain is only just and Ganguly hoping for rain was quite evident. A player as fighting as Ganguly hoping for rain reflects how poor the Duckworth Lewis system. By the way the australians lost wickets, it was very evident that they were very lucky to win the match. Lee who was struggling till then even to connect his bat to the ball hits a six. Luck does not get better though major part of aussies runs came of inside edges and leg byes. By the way, how much was Brad Williams for his polite gesture to Ganguly after he dismissed him in the Brisbane match. He deserved ban.

How does the Aussies get away with everything they do??
by toca_member on Jan 23, 2004 10:26 PM

I guess that the aussies took 15 minutes extra in the first session. (totally 25 minutes off schedule, with 10 minutes for the rain). But, there was no talk / concern from the match refree for the same and it is just the Indians, who are "caught" guilty!!! Will this every change? Why shud the indian team keep quiet for all this crap??
