Aussies never accept their loss in the battle
by Ramu on Jan 29, 2004 08:25 AM

I have read in a newspaper that " So, This is the reason why, indians r doing well in this series". This article is something silly. Indians won all the games with their good batting performance rather than bowling.

no wonder

no wonder India drew Australia, I knew something was fishy. who knows maybe Dravid has done this many times before - what a cheat, he should be banned for 12 months just like Warne was, how come he only got fined 50percent of his match fee...this is double standards by the ICC.

Poor Dravid
by Kaunain Shahidi on Jan 23, 2004 05:56 PM  | Hide replies

It seems the Australian Media wants to disturb the BEST indian player by this type of gimmicks. Dravid known for his sportmanship can never be involved in such so called bal tampering. The Australian are able to digest the Indian good performance and hence they are doing such tricks to disturb the team. Poor Dravid...but i am sure Indian Team will come out as winner at the end, my best wishes....

Rahul Dravid
by Mayur Soni on Jan 23, 2004 01:07 PM

It's a message to Clive Lyold and Steve Bucknor. They should first care about the state of West Indies Cricket. It seems they only want to pull down those who are having great run. First Sachin's dismissal and then Dravid's fine. Damn those stupid rules, Sachin and Rahul are above those petty things.

Why Zimbabwe?
by Rupinder Singh on Jan 23, 2004 12:26 PM

Even if we believe for a moment it was intentional, why do it against Zimbabwe? Just shows Aussies have no character when they lose. Dravid's only fault is the color of his skin

Well said

I really enjoyed this article. Your comments really hit home - especially the part about Dravid being found guilty in the letter of the law, if not the spirit.

A little conspiracy theory - why do the prominent players get pulled up? Because it makes the headlines and sells the game a little better?

People will say what they want to, none more so than journalists. I quite agree with you that it is better to focus on the fantastic cricket tht is being played and the great spirit and sportsmanship exhibited by these two teams on the field than take notice of the rantings of journalists who just spread innuendo to sell their writings a little better.

Again, well said, sir!

But was it ball tampering?
by VIVEK CHAUDHARY on Jan 22, 2004 10:10 PM

Dear Prem,

What Rahul Dravid did was wrong. Probably, when he got the ball tainted, he should have gone to the umpire and told him the whole story.

Yesterday, while listening to commentary from Tony Craig and Richie Benaud and other Australian, I could see a class of difference. Tony Craig is an Englishman, who cannot be trusted as he would call Saurav Ganguly, "Prince of Calcutta" while travelling in India, but when he is in Australia, he not only criticized Tendulkar for ball tempering and Rahul Dravid, but he was saying because Ganguly was standing next to him, he also should have been punished. Richie Benaud and other commentators reserved their comments and were in general neutral.

Indian sponsors and TV authorities, I don't want to see this biased commentator who happens to be a racist.

At Last Something Good From Prem!!!
by Arpan on Jan 22, 2004 08:55 PM

Is Mr. Prem down with high fever or something akin? Or has the sun risen from the West & set in the East today? Finally, for a change, this fellow has penned down something in favour of the Indian cricket team & shown his solidarity towards them who otherwise is always on the lookout for faults in our cricket team & then make a mountain out of a mole in his articles! Maybe he should get his BP checked!!

ball tampering
by S. P. TRIVEDI on Jan 22, 2004 04:05 PM

The intension of Dravid was to clean the ball which got sticky, not to tamper the ball. If he would have not been cleaning the ball, he would have been guilty. His intension was not to tamper, but to give it the original shape i.e. untempering. The decision of match referey is against the sprit of the game. To have spirit of the game should be expected not only from players but also from other officials. INTENSIONS SHOULD BE SEEN NOT DEEDS

i agree with Mr Panicker but would also like to point out that in one of the sentences towards the end of the article, he himself goes fairly close to insinuating something against the aussies. I know he is not and the statement is helping him prove a point .. but this is how it all starts. its a nice article about the "healthy" spirit in the test and ODI series. lets just keep it that way. If the Aussie media brings this up again when India beats Australia in the finals, we will pile it onto them.
